In the 101st year of the Republic, Cumhuriyet Junction in Manisa

The 3-story Organized Industrial Zone Intersection, built in cooperation with Manisa Metropolitan Municipality and Manisa OSB, has been completed and opened to service with a ceremony held in the 101st year of the Republic. The first test drive at the intersection, named Republic Intersection, was carried out by Manisa Governor Vahdettin Özkan, former Manisa Metropolitan Mayor Cengiz Ergün, and OSB President Sait Türek, with Manisa Metropolitan Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek at the steering wheel.

The Republic Intersection of Manisa OSB, constructed by Manisa Organized Industrial Zone and Manisa Metropolitan Municipality, was opened with a ceremony. The opening was attended by Manisa Governor Vahdettin Özkan, Manisa Metropolitan Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek, CHP Manisa Member of Parliament Bekir Başevirgen, DEVA Party Manisa Member of Parliament Selma Aliye Kavaf, Manisa CBÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Rana Kibar, Manisa Organized Industrial Zone President Sait Türek, former Manisa Metropolitan Municipality President Cengiz Ergün, Manisa Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Mehmet Yılmaz, Manisa Commodity Exchange President Sadık Özkasap, Yunusemre Mayor Semih Balaban, Şehzadeler Mayor Gülşah Durbay, and many invited guests.

In his speech at the ceremony, Manisa Governor Vahdettin Özkan began by celebrating the 101st anniversary of the Republic, stating, “Today, we are truly experiencing a multi-layered celebration together. It is the 101st year of our Republic. The beautiful weather and the fact that our city has gained such an intersection that the industry has long requested has nurtured our joy together in a festive atmosphere. I share this joy from the heart. I have been in Manisa for a short time, but they are creating a fertile climate atmosphere with their hardworking and loving people who are communicative and share with each other. Today’s work is a manifestation of this intersection’s opening.”

“We are signing a new era”

Manisa Metropolitan Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek started his speech by stating that traffic in Manisa has become unbearable day by day, saying, “Firstly, our Republic Intersection will be a solution point for this traffic. I would like to inform you that we have started work on the wide intersection being built behind it and the Muradiye Intersection as soon as possible. The Republic Intersection is a very important project that has been brought to our Manisa with the harmony of two beautiful institutions, the Organized Industrial Zone and Manisa Metropolitan Municipality. I truly hope there will be more to come. In the October council meeting, we decided to name the intersection Republic Intersection. First of all, I would like to thank all council members who unanimously voted for this decision. Subsequently, we are entering a new phase in transportation. As of November 1, we are signing another era so that there will be neither vehicles waiting at the stop nor citizens waiting at the bus stop. Because finding solutions to the increasing traffic in a growing and developing Manisa is our primary duty. I would like to thank former Mayor Cengiz Ergün and all colleagues who contributed to this intersection for their efforts. I thank everyone very much. Today is a very beautiful day. It is the first Republic Day of our second century. Protecting the Republic, which is entrusted to us by our Commander-in-Chief Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and passing it on to future generations is our most important duty. By naming this intersection Republic Intersection, we wanted to remind ourselves of this at every moment it is passed. I hope this intersection will be a solution to the traffic of our Manisa, and I wish it to be auspicious. I again thank everyone who contributed. I want to celebrate our Republic Day once again.”

“Let’s hope for the Gediz Intersection, which has been delayed for years”

Manisa Organized Industrial Zone Board President Sait Türek stated, “Today, on the exact 101st anniversary of our Republic, we are opening the intersection that our Manisa Metropolitan Municipality and Manisa Organized Industrial Zone have jointly realized. With its rapidly growing and developing industry, Manisa has become a transportation hub to other cities in the Aegean Region. I would like to thank the personnel of the Metropolitan Municipality, the staff of our Organized Industrial Zone, and the workers of the contracting firms who have worked hard on this project from the beginning, showcasing a beautiful example of inter-institutional cooperation. The intersection we are inaugurating today has strategic importance due to its connection to our city center, Organized Industrial Zone, Izmir, and the Manisa ring road. This intersection, where we have performed the first vehicle passage today, will provide a solution to the traffic congestion experienced in the connections of our Organized Industrial Zone to Izmir and Manisa and will greatly relieve regional traffic. Thus, both our industry and the transportation infrastructure of our city will be further strengthened. Let’s hope that the Gediz Intersection, which has been delayed for years, will follow suit. Today, on the 101st anniversary of our Republic, I respectfully, gratefully, and with mercy commemorate Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades, and all our heroes who entrusted our Republic to us. Happy Republic Day. May this beautiful work be auspicious for our Manisa and all the people, ensuring safe and sound journeys.”

After the speeches, the protocol members cut the ribbon for the opening of the Republic Intersection. Following the ribbon cutting, the first test drive at the intersection was carried out by Manisa Metropolitan Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek, with Manisa Governor Vahdettin Özkan, former Manisa Metropolitan Mayor Cengiz Ergün, and OSB President Sait Türek in the vehicle.
