Zeugma Mosaic Museum is facing a surge of visitors.

The Zeugma Mosaic Museum, one of the largest mosaic museums in the world, is visited by thousands of local and foreign tourists on weekends. In the first 9 months of the year, over 400 thousand people visited the museum, especially on weekends there is a high density of visitors.

The museum, which is synonymous with Gaziantep, displays the Gypsy Girl mosaic, the Mars statue, and villa floor mosaics found in excavations along the Euphrates River, experiencing a surge of visitors especially on weekends. The mosaics in the museum include examples of early Syrian and Christian iconography, as well as Roman-era statues, columns, and fountains, attracting the attention of visitors alongside the mosaics covering an area of 2,500 square meters unearthed from the ancient city of Zeugma.

One of the most important works of the museum and a symbol of the city, the Gypsy Girl mosaic, dating back to the 2nd century AD, is among the most visited pieces. The Zeugma Mosaic Museum, which increases its visitor numbers each year, is visited by thousands of people not only on weekdays but also on weekends. Due to the weekend, the museum experienced a surge of visitors, with citizens forming long queues to buy tickets to tour the museum.

Abdulkerim Çan, a visitor who stated that he visited the Zeugma Mosaic Museum for the first time, said, “I have learned different information about the Roman period. I regret not having come to the museum earlier. I wish I had visited the museum before. The museum provides us with a lot of information about the Roman period. It gives quite a bit of information about the lifestyle, architecture, and art history of that period. Therefore, I found the museum quite impressive. Honestly, I didn’t expect such a crowd.
