Nevşehir Governor Ali Fidan published a message on the occasion of the 101st anniversary of the establishment of the Republic. In his message, Governor Fidan stated: “We proudly, enthusiastically, and excitedly celebrate the 101st anniversary of our Republic, which was declared by Atatürk, who said, ‘The administration that is most suitable for the nature and character of the Turkish nation is the administration of the republic,’ following the epic of independence written with determination and resolution by the Great Turkish Nation, filled with history, glory, and heroism, and after its honorable struggle ended with great victory.”
Fidan said, “Our nation, which has always lived freely without ever compromising its freedom and independence throughout history, broke the chains of captivity that were sought to be imposed on it with the victory of our War of Independence, realized under the leadership of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and crowned this absolute victory with the establishment of the Republic of Turkey. The Republic is the result of a great victory achieved after a national struggle undertaken with faith and determination to attain independence, fueled by love of the homeland, freedom, and the passion for independence, despite all kinds of impossibilities. It is our common duty to protect our Republic, which rises on the accumulation of our ancient history of thousands of years and the legacy of a 600-year-old world state, to work diligently for the future of our country and nation, to struggle, and to make sacrifices when necessary. As each member of our noble nation, we will continue to work with all our strength, united by the inspiration we draw from our history and ancestors, to carry our Republic, which Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk deemed as his greatest work, to even higher levels.
With these feelings and thoughts, I commemorate with mercy our dear martyrs who have willingly sacrificed their lives for our homeland and nation, from the founder of our Republic, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and his comrades-in-arms to the present day, and I express my gratitude and appreciation to our heroic veterans. I sincerely celebrate the 29th of October Republic Day of all my fellow citizens of Nevşehir.”
