Seed and seedling support for agriculture in Erzurum

Erzurum Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry announced that during the 2024 production season, 4 projects are being implemented. A total of 1,575 decares of land are involved, and 785 producers received 15 tons of chickpeas, 5 tons of beans, and 188,000 vegetable seedlings aimed at increasing agricultural production.

The Erzurum Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry announced that 4 projects were implemented during the 2024 production season, and 15 tons of chickpeas, 5 tons of beans, and 188,000 vegetable seedlings were distributed to 785 producers in an area of 1,575 decares to increase agricultural production.

In the statement made by the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, it was emphasized that strengthening rural life is a key element in Erzurum, where rural life plays an important role. It was stated that, “With the approval of our President, the “Decision on Supporting the Activation of Agricultural Land Use” implemented in 2022 aims to increase plant production and support investment projects for post-harvest product processing, especially in areas that are not included in the planting program and are designated for fallow, as well as areas unsuitable for cultivation, provided that appropriate agricultural production methods are used. Sustainable projects suitable for Erzurum’s agricultural structure have been implemented under the ‘Project for Activating Agricultural Land Use’. Positive reflections of the projects implemented so far can be observed in the field.”

“Strengthening rural life is important”

In the announcement where it was emphasized that 4 projects were implemented during the 2024 production season, it continued: “Within the scope of the project, 15 tons of chickpeas, 5 tons of beans, and 188,000 vegetable seedlings have been introduced to the soil in our province to increase agricultural production for our 785 producers in an area of 1,575 decares. In order to expand the agricultural production pattern of our province and to reintroduce our idle greenhouse production areas into production, 16 tons of greenhouse plastic have been provided to our producers, strengthening greenhouse agricultural activities in our province. The total budget of our projects is 5,040,000 TL, of which approximately 70% is covered as a grant by our Ministry, amounting to 3,380,000 TL, depending on the subject. Additionally, within the framework of the “Strawberry Production Development Project” funded by the Erzurum Governorship’s Investment Monitoring and Coordination Presidency, 20,000 strawberry seedlings have been procured, and production has been carried out in an area of 4 decares. All agricultural activities implemented in Erzurum, which is the capital of livestock, are interrelated and will strengthen our city and rural life. Our city’s production planning, showcasing the long-term vision of our Ministry, will also enable our city to benefit positively from the support.
