In the 4th week of the Turkish Basketball Super League, Karşıyaka lost to Beşiktaş, failing to secure a victory in both of their away games this season.
Karşıyaka, one of the teams in the Turkish Basketball Super League, faced Beşiktaş in the 4th week. The match, played at the BJK Sports Complex, ended with a score of 89-82 in favor of Beşiktaş. Thus, the Izmir team has not seen a victory in their two away games this season. Karşıyaka’s head coach Ufuk Sarıca also made statements regarding the match. Sarıca mentioned that he had previously indicated that the match would be tough and intense, stating, “I congratulate Beşiktaş, but I also commend my players for their efforts. We could have won too. I believe we fought well while playing with so many missing players, but we didn’t finish well, especially in the last 4-5 minutes. Our offensive structure broke down in those moments, and we had too many turnovers. I think we spent the whole game with too many turnovers; we are not a team that has that many turnovers. The incorrect evaluations and allowances for physical play by the referees also affected the final moments, but above all, I am satisfied with my team’s struggle in this tough away game. We struggled in short positions when Kenan got 5 fouls. Sean and Thomas are already absent. We need to fill these gaps as soon as possible. We have a very fit and well-structured squad. We are a team with a lot of character. We need to plan the future quickly and effectively. A step was taken last week, but it needs to be followed up.”
Karşıyaka will visit Greek team AE Cholargos Rhodes in the FIBA Basketball Champions League on Wednesday, October 30.
