Cengiz Şimşek, the President of Gaziantep Organized Industrial Zone, issued a celebration message on the occasion of the Republic Day on October 29.
“On the 101st anniversary of our Republic’s establishment, we celebrate our nation’s October 29 Republic Day with great enthusiasm and joy,” said OSB President Şimşek. “One of the most significant turning points in our history is October 29. Our nation, which emerged victorious from the War of Independence with an epic example of heroism, declared our Republic on October 29, 1923, under the leadership of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, asserting that sovereignty belongs unconditionally to the nation. It is our most important civic duty to protect our Republic, which keeps us united from Edirne to Ardahan and allows us to live freely and independently in peace and tranquility, and to pass it on to future generations more strongly.”
In his message, President Şimşek stated: “As we go through a period in the world where wars, blood, and tears are never absent, we better understand the significance of our Republic and the saying ‘Peace at Home, Peace in the World.’ If we live freely and peacefully on these lands today, we owe it to our Republic. Gaziantep industrialists, who have taken Atatürk’s words, ‘Political and military victories, no matter how great they are, cannot be sustained unless crowned with economic victories,’ as their guide, have become the pride of our country with their achievements in production, employment, and exports. As Gaziantep industrialists, we will continue to work with all our strength to raise our Republic above the level of contemporary civilizations, regardless of the circumstances, and to produce for our country.”
Emphasizing once again that they condemn the treacherous terrorist attack on TUSAŞ facilities in Ankara last week, President Şimşek said, “We need to strengthen our unity and brotherhood against every threat to our country. We must be ready to make every sacrifice to protect and strengthen our Republic. Because the Republic is our common ground and our shared love as a nation. With these feelings and thoughts; I once again express my gratitude and respect to our great leader Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of our Republic, and his comrades, as well as to our martyrs who sacrificed their lives without hesitation in the defense of our homeland, and our heroic veterans who have passed away. I celebrate our Republic Day.”
