In Adıyaman’s Mount Nemrut, 101 women set out from Doğubayazıt district of Ağrı to celebrate the 101st anniversary of the Republic of Turkey with the sunrise.
In Ağrı, 101 women gathered by the Doğubayazıt Noah’s Ark Search and Rescue Association to draw attention to violence against women and to celebrate the 101st anniversary of the Republic. They are exploring the historical and touristic areas in Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia with an event they named the ‘Love Walk.’ The second stop for the 101 women, who set out from Doğubayazıt to celebrate the 101st anniversary of the Republic with the sunrise on Mount Nemrut in Adıyaman, was Van. The women first visited Van Castle and spent the night camping in Gevaş district. After visiting Akdamar Island, the group left Van to go to Mardin. Within the scope of their visits, the 101 women will watch the sunrise on Mount Nemrut on October 29, 2024, to celebrate the 101st anniversary of the Republic.
Ahmet Ertuğrul, the President of the Noah’s Ark Search and Rescue Association, which has been organizing ‘No to Violence Against Women’ for the last three years, stated, “We have carried out our first event with a summit climb of Mount Ağrı, besides the 81 provinces of Turkey. We have also taken this abroad under the names ‘No to Violence Against Women’, ‘Love Road’, and ‘Love Walk.’ We are also doing this event in Georgia. This activity covers the dates between October 22-29, 2024. The goal here is actually to see our ancient lands. It is a journey starting from Doğubayazıt and ending in Şanlıurfa. We set out with this idea for our people to see not only this region but also the historical and cultural areas of Van, ‘Göbeklitepe’ in Şanlıurfa, and the Noah’s Ark in Mount Ağrı, and to witness these ancient lands here.”
“We will celebrate the 101st anniversary of the Republic with 101 women”
Ertuğrul added, “At the same time, on the 101st anniversary of the Republic on October 29, we will join the sunrise on Mount Nemrut in Adıyaman early in the morning with 101 women.” Aynur Alikara, who participated in the event from Istanbul, said, “It is a beautiful event. Many of our friends joined this event from Istanbul. This trip has become more comprehensive. We are very happy to be a part of such an event. It has a meaning, the ‘Love Walk.’ We say no to every form of violence.”
