The future little chefs and environmentalists at Kocaeli Locomotive Children’s Village are recycling organic waste from food.
Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality’s “Happy Children, Happy City” slogan highlights the Locomotive Children’s Village project, which allows children aged 3-6 to freely discover themselves. The little chefs and environmentalists at the Locomotive Children’s Village collaborate among the carriages to carry out environmentally friendly activities. In the Locomotive Children’s Village, managed by the Department of Women and Family Services, the children have implemented another environmentally conscious project. The organic waste from the foods prepared in the Little Chefs carriage is delivered to the Little Environmentalists carriage, becoming part of eco-friendly recycling. The little environmentalists will process this waste with a compost machine and turn it into useful fertilizer for the soil.
Through the “Locomotive Children’s Village” project, children learn about the cycle of nature while discovering the importance of recycling and sustainability. The little environmentalists, who experience the joy of contributing to the environment and leaving a green mark for the future, are also being educated about love for nature, environmental awareness, and the proper use of resources alongside fun with this project.
The Locomotive Children’s Village, located within Izmit East Kışla Park, offers educational programs in the “Little Designers Carriage, Little Chefs Carriage, Little Environmentalists Carriage, Little Readers Carriage, Little Painters Carriage, Little Inventors Carriage, Little Architects Carriage, Little Musicians Carriage.” Each carriage provides weekly training sessions for groups of 10 children aged 3-6 for 4 weeks. Students continue their training the following month in a different carriage of their choice.
