Istanbul Atlas University celebrated the 101st anniversary of the Republic’s establishment with a ceremony. Academics, administrative staff, and students experienced the enthusiasm of Republic Day together.
Prof. Dr. Ersoy Kocabıçak: “The Republic means living by the values that make us who we are, and make a person human.”
Rector Prof. Dr. Ersoy Kocabıçak expressed great excitement and happiness on the eve of the 101st year of the Republic’s establishment, and commemorated the founder of the Republic, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and his comrades with gratitude and respect. He stated that the establishment of the Republic has many meanings, saying, “It means transferring sovereignty from one person or group to the people. It means living by the values that make us who we are, and make a person human. It means achieving universal human rights, justice, peace, and freedom. If the Republic had not been established, these values would have remained merely a dream for us. Perhaps we would have been unaware of the existence of these concepts. I want us to symbolically participate in our civilization walk on the eve of the 101st anniversary of our Republic.”
Prof. Dr. Ersoy Kocabıçak, stating that they are working to take our country to the highest levels, emphasized Atatürk’s words, “O rising new generation! The future is yours. We established the Republic; it is you who will elevate and sustain it,” and said that they aim to preserve the deep-rooted values of our Republic and work to pass these values on to the youth, who are the future of our country.
Dr. Nermin Değer: “Today we are here to preserve this great legacy and carry it into the future.”
Dr. Nermin Değer, Assistant Director of DILMER at Istanbul Atlas University and a Faculty Member from the Common Courses Turkish Language Department, said in her speech titled “All My Hopes are with the Youth” that the ceremony is an important opportunity to remember the values of the Republic and ensure that these sacred values are carried into the future. She noted that the Republic was won at the end of an independence struggle led by Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk with the determination and resolve of the Turkish nation, stating, “October 29, 1923 is not just a date; it is also the concrete manifestation of the understanding that sovereignty belongs unconditionally to the nation. Today, we are here to preserve this great legacy and carry it into the future.”
Medals and certificates were awarded to the students who placed in the competition.
In the Atlas University 2nd Traditional Republic Race held as part of the program, certificates and medals were awarded to the students and athletes who placed by Prof. Dr. Ersoy Kocabıçak.
