Yeşilyurt Mayor Prof. Dr. İlhan Geçit met with Malatya Yeşilyurtspor Club President Adnan Çoban and Board Members, who are leading the Regional Amateur Football League Group 3 with 9 points, along with members of the press.

During the meeting, messages of unity and solidarity were conveyed before the Malatya Yeşilyurtspor match against Aksaray Gençlikspor, which will be played on Sunday, October 27 at 13:00 at Yeşiltepe Field 1.

Speaking at the press conference held at Yeşilyurt Municipality Barguzu Social Facilities, Malatya Yeşilyurtspor Club President Adnan Çoban mentioned that they are making every effort to turn their goal of moving up to the 3rd League into reality and thanked Mayor Prof. Dr. İlhan Geçit for his support to the club.

Recalling that they started the season well as Malatya Yeşilyurtspor, completing three weeks with victories and leading their group with 9 points, President Çoban stated, “We have been working hard for months to represent our city in the best way possible in the Regional Amateur League and to realize our goal of reaching the 3rd League. At the beginning of the season, we were meticulous in determining our technical staff and in planning the squad. After receiving support from our Mayor Prof. Dr. İlhan Geçit, we also put our hands to the stone. As the Board of Directors, we have carried out serious and planned work to form a strong squad that will lead the team to the determined goal. While forming the core squad of the team, we chose players who would add value to the team with both their experience and character. After a good preparation period, we started the season well. We completed our three matches with victories and took the leading position. We are working wholeheartedly and sincerely to bring the 3rd League trophy back to Malatya. With the support of our fans and the press, we want to represent our city and district in the best way and reach our set goal by the end of the season. We want to elevate Malatya Yeşilyurtspor to a level that will make significant contributions to Malatya football. Of course, we expect the support of the people of Malatya during this period. With the support of our fans who will fill the stands, we want to win our remaining matches and continue on our path without any losses. We are ready for the match against Aksaray Gençlikspor, which we will play at home on Sunday, October 27 at 13:00. We want to leave the field with 3 points with the support of our fans and add another link to our winning streak,” he said.

Expressing that they provide all kinds of support and contributions to sports activities as Yeşilyurt Municipality, Mayor Geçit stated, “Raising Malatya is not limited to construction activities. It is important to uplift the city along with its culture, art, sports, and history. If we do not do these, we cannot develop the feeling of living together in society. We must act together to uplift our city with all its values, be united and cooperative, and fulfill our duties properly. With this understanding, we have made every effort to revive Yeşilyurt Belediyespor, which has changed its name to Malatya Yeşilyurtspor, to represent our city successfully in the Regional Amateur Football League. A board of directors was formed under the leadership of Mr. Adnan Çoban, a businessman who loves Malatya and makes sacrifices for the city to rise, and they have started their work. As Yeşilyurt Municipality, we are providing all kinds of support to them. We cover the team’s accommodation, meals, and travel expenses. Our Board of Directors under the leadership of Adnan Çoban is working successfully, a good team has been formed, and the first three weeks have been completed with victories, and we are currently leading in Group 3. I congratulate our Club President, our managers, our technical team, and our player brothers,” he said.

Indicating that the promotion of Malatya Yeşilyurtspor to the 3rd League would provide significant gains for Malatya football, Mayor Geçit stated, “Everyone is doing their best with goodwill, sincerity, and effort to turn our team’s 3rd League target set at the beginning of the season into reality. We hope to achieve this goal by the end of the season, but making success in football permanent and sustainable is equivalent to the importance given to infrastructure and facilities. As a municipality, we attach importance to infrastructure and do whatever is necessary to bring new talents to the country’s sports. Our main goal is to prepare our athletes to be able to play in major teams and important leagues. ”

At the end of his speech, Mayor Geçit invited all fans to the match against Aksaray Gençlikspor, saying, “Tomorrow we will play an important match at home, and I wish our team success.
