Eyüp Artar, the President of Bayburt City Council, visited the Bayburt Journalists Association and made statements about the work they are carrying out throughout the city. Eyüp Artar stated that the City Council, which was established two months ago, has sent 8 recommendation letters to institutions so far.

He mentioned that the number of members has reached 49, including institution heads, NGO representatives, and provincial party chairpersons, and that they have also formed an executive board to evaluate issues.

Artar noted that they are trying to bring societal problems raised by citizens for Bayburt to the agenda. He said that consultation is essential for the regular functioning of operations in Bayburt and requested citizens to report any deficiencies they observe.

He indicated that they will be involved in a project for young people struggling with substance addiction and emphasized that the City Council will fulfill its responsibilities in this regard. Artar expressed his significant concern for the youth with the following words: “We will entrust our homeland and our flag to them. Our youth is very important to us; they are the architects of our tomorrow. We will form a Substance Dependency Group, and this group’s work will bear the signatures of all Bayburt citizens, not just five individuals as in other groups, because this issue is our most significant societal problem.”

He mentioned that they are making institutional visits and conveying issues that affect institutions and the community through recommendation letters, assuring that they will follow up on these issues to ensure solutions are provided.

Artar also added that they attach importance to afforestation and will work to spread many local tree species, especially Rosehip and Kaleardı Plum, throughout Bayburt.

Murat Okumuş, the President of the Bayburt Journalists Association, found the City Council’s efforts very appropriate and emphasized that Bayburt’s press will be a part of the City Council’s activities and will continue to express the shortcomings in the city.

During the visit, which included BGC board members Öznur Demir, Baki Meral, and members of the press, President Okutmuş thanked Eyüp Artar and City Council Secretary Celal Yücel for their visit.
