Kayseri’s 6th Science Festival has opened its doors.

The opening of the 6th Kayseri Science Festival, which is organized in collaboration with the Kayseri Science Center and TÜBİTAK and will last for 3 days, has been held. The Kayseri Science Center, which is one of the 6 TÜBİTAK-supported science centers in Turkey, is part of the Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality.

The opening of the 6th Kayseri Science Festival, organized in collaboration with the Kayseri Science Center and TÜBİTAK, was held and will last for 3 days.

The 6th Kayseri Science Festival, which will feature more than 100 events with the participation of over 50 institutions, was opened to science enthusiasts by the Kayseri Science Center, one of the 6 TÜBİTAK-supported science centers in Turkey, under the auspices of the Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality. The opening ceremony of the 6th Science Festival, held at the Recep Tayyip Erdoğan National Garden Event Area within the framework of TÜBİTAK’s 4007-Science Festivals Support Program, was attended by Kayseri Metropolitan Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç, Kayseri Deputy Governor Erkan Kaçmaz, Kayseri 12th Air Transport Main Base Commander Hv. Plt. Brig. Gen. Hasan Volkan Güleryüz, AK Party Kayseri Members of Parliament Murat Cahid Cıngı, S. Bayar Özsoy, Kayseri University Rector Prof. Dr. Kurtuluş Karamustafa, Melikgazi Mayor Mustafa Palancıoğlu, Kocasinan Mayor Ahmet Çolakbayrakdar, AK Party Kayseri Provincial Chairman Fatih Üzüm, Provincial Director of National Education Coşkun Esen, Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism Şükrü Dursun, bureaucrats from the Metropolitan Municipality, academics, students, and many citizens. The ceremony began with a moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem, followed by the recitation of the Quran and a prayer. Starting his speech by wishing mercy from Allah for the martyrs, Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç stated, “As long as we are united under our star and crescent flag, no one will have the power over us. That’s why we value science and knowledge.” Mayor Büyükkılıç expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to the festival, which is being held in cooperation with TÜBİTAK, noting that over 50 institutions supported the event and that they aimed for students to enjoy learning. He mentioned that there would be various workshops under 9 main themes including ‘Astronomy and Space’, ‘Nanotechnology and Physics’, ‘Environment and Zero Waste’, ‘Climate Change and Sustainability’, ‘Nature and Art’, ‘Life and Biotechnology’, ‘Energy Technologies and Physics’, and ‘Paleontology’. President Büyükkılıç emphasized that the TÜBİTAK Science Center administrations have not left them alone, and noted that the event featured instructors from TÜBİTAK, DENEYAP Turkey, Elazığ Science Center, Denizli Science Center, Konya Science Center, Kocaeli Science Center, Trabzon Özdemir Bayraktar Science Center, Aksaray Science Center, Science Erzurum, Gaziantep MüzeYYen Erkul Science Center, and Altındağ Alev Alatlı Science Center with their National Technology Workshops. Sharing information about the Kayseri Science Center, Büyükkılıç stated, “It is filled with our dear youth. Last year, over 100,000 young people participated in the activities we conducted in that area. Our Science Center represented Kayseri by participating in Teknofests held in Turkey.” Mayor Büyükkılıç reminded that Kayseri has made a name for itself in tourism, culture, and gastronomy and said:

“We are enlivening this place with the meaningful activities held in the Recep Tayyip Erdoğan National Garden. I share that our book fair, which lasted 10 days last week, was visited by 1 million 85 thousand book lovers. Kayseri, with its 5 universities and nearly 80,000 students, continues to work diligently towards becoming a city known for science. In tourism, culture, and gastronomy, Kayseri stands out, which delights and pleases us. I thank all our stakeholders and the dynamics of our city that make this possible.”

AK Party Kayseri MP Murat Cahid Cıngı thanked Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç and the Metropolitan Municipality for hosting various events every week, stating that 5 of the world’s leading defense industry companies are in Turkey, led by TUSAŞ, and condemned the attack on TUSAŞ, praying for mercy for the martyrs. Cıngı pointed out that Kayseri has become a city recognized not just for its manti, sucuk, and pastirma, but also for science and technology, expressing his gratitude to everyone involved. Kayseri University Rector Prof. Dr. Kurtuluş Karamustafa highlighted the significance of the event, noting its continuity and traditional nature, as well as the importance of children and young people in Kayseri, the city of science, learning scientific activities through games and events. Rector Karamustafa spoke about the importance of such scientific activities for Turkey, which is located in a very beautiful yet challenging geography, to exist as a strong and great country.

After the speeches, Mayor Büyükkılıç and the protocol visited the established booths and met with young people discovering the magical world of science.
