“We turned the research we conducted in 1982 into a book”
Erkan Özaydın, the Editor-in-Chief of Mersin Art Literature Magazine, expressed his happiness for the support of such an event by the Metropolitan Municipality and for being present at the fair. Özaydın mentioned in his book that they followed the notes of Ali Rıza Yalgın, a teacher working in the Karatepeli region of the Taurus Mountains, by traveling around the area and created a research book. He explained that they turned the research they conducted in 1982 into a book with the support of the Metropolitan Municipality as a team, emphasizing that they conveyed many aspects such as the lifestyle, culture, architecture, and education of the region.
“In the book, we briefly draw a panorama of Turkey”
Author Ayşe Yetmen stated that her book narrates the life of Celal Özsarı from Tarsus to Istanbul. Emphasizing that the traces of the period are present in the book, Yetmen expressed, “Additionally, the content of the book tells a history of music. We describe the entertainment venues, social life, and education in Turkey. In short, we draw a panorama of Turkey in the book.”
Celal Özsarı, who shared the adventure of writing the book titled ‘A Percussion Master Celal Özsarı’, said that Yetmen encouraged him. He mentioned that he struggled at first but began to write his memories with the help of his mother. Özsarı stated, “After the first text I wrote, Ms. Ayşe said, ‘This is very nice, you will succeed, keep going.’ Again, with Ms. Ayşe’s efforts, we contacted our President Vahap Seçer for the publication of our book. After that, the samples we sent were reviewed and deemed worthy of publication,” and he thanked everyone who contributed.
