A “Plant Health Applications 2024 Evaluation Meeting” was held in Erzincan. The meeting reviewed the activities for the year 2024.
To evaluate the plant health application program for 2024, a “Plant Health 2024 Evaluation Meeting” was organized in Erzincan. The meeting was attended by Serkan Kütük, Deputy Director of Erzincan Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, Özcan Tekin, Branch Manager of Plant Production and Plant Health, district agriculture and forestry directors, and technical personnel working in plant health.
In his opening speech at the meeting, Serkan Kütük emphasized the importance of plant health in terms of plant production and food safety, stating that the national plant health application program determined by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry is implemented with a human and environment-focused approach, and that problematic areas have been identified and action plans have been developed by the ministry accordingly.
In his speech, Özcan Tekin, Branch Manager of Plant Production and Plant Health, emphasized the necessity of fighting plant diseases and pests strictly in accordance with technical instructions, at the right time and with the right methods, highlighting that combating primarily through biological control methods is one of their targets and that they prioritize staff and farmer training for this purpose. Continuing his speech, Tekin noted that they are making intensive efforts to achieve the targets set for food safety in Turkey, stressing the importance of biological and biotechnical control, and stated that they also place additional importance on training and inspection activities aimed at reducing pesticide use.
Later in the meeting, an exchange of views was held regarding the field applications of the plant health practices determined by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
