SAMSUN (IHA) – Samsunspor’s Head Coach Thomas Reis stated that if they show their performance from the past matches, they can return from the away game against Kasımpaşa with points.

Before the away match against Kasımpaşa in the 10th week of the Trendyol Super Lig, Samsunspor’s Head Coach Thomas Reis made statements to the press at the Nuri Asan Facilities. Reis expressed that they want to leave their fifth away game this season with a victory.

“If we show our previous performances, we can take points from Kasımpaşa.”

Mentioning that they want to win the Kasımpaşa match, Thomas Reis said, “The Kasımpaşa match will be a tough encounter. Kasımpaşa is a strong opponent, which they show every week. We will be playing against an opponent that knows what to do with the ball, runs a lot, applies pressure well, and tries to press forward when possible. Of course, it will be a tough match. We need to show the same performance we have shown so far against them. If we perform like we did in previous matches, like the one against Fenerbahçe, we will have a chance to earn points.”

“I currently have 2 yellow cards and I do not want to see more.”

Reis mentioned that he has received 2 yellow cards in the past 9 weeks and expressed that he does not understand why he received one of them. “As far as I learned, I have 2 yellow cards. I received a yellow card because I left the area assigned to me during the Fenerbahçe match. Frankly, I don’t know why I was given a yellow card during the Göztepe match, and I even asked the referee about it. Even the fourth official could not clearly tell me anything. I currently have 2 cards, which is enough for now, and I hope not to get more,” he said.

“Our philosophy is aggressive and pressing football.”

In response to a question about playing football that provides both enjoyment and results, the German coach said, “This is part of our philosophy. Of course, there are times when we play to maintain the score. But according to our philosophy, we need to be aggressive, our pressures need to be clear, and we need to press a bit more forward. As a team, we managed to come back in a few matches, and we achieved this very well. We are very happy about that. We regularly discuss how we should play with the teammates. We conduct our training accordingly. We need to do better, of course. But we try to show our best performance in every match. I tried to play a similar game in my previous clubs. We are trying to play aggressively by applying pressure. I did this with my previous teams as well. If the pressures are not clear, almost all of the team plays passively. This is not what I want. I want everyone to be actively involved in the game and to fight. I believe that this is the best way for this team to play.”

Reis also commented on the 2 goals they conceded from throw-ins, saying, “There will be no change in our defensive structure. We conceded very similar goals in the Göztepe and Fenerbahçe matches, very simple goals. They were goals conceded from a long throw-in. Frankly, it was not a chance we gave to the opponent. It was not a situation where the opponent got into a position. These were goals that we unfortunately gifted, due to poor communication and mistakes. What is important to me here is the reaction shown by the team. Of course, players are not machines. Mistakes can happen, and these are part of football, but as I said, the reaction and the performance shown by the team are very important to me. Defense is not just done with four players. All 11 players need to contribute to the team both offensively and defensively.”
