Muş (IHA) – Within the scope of the project “Every Journey is a Treasure” organized by the Bulanık District Governorate of Muş, middle school students studying in villages visited the historical sites in Ahlat district of Bitlis.
The students and teachers sent to Ahlat by the Bulanık District Governorate first visited the Ahlat Seljuk Cemetery. While receiving information about Ahlat’s general history and the Seljuk Cemetery, the students carefully examined the gravestones and took plenty of photographs.
Later, the students also visited the Emir Bayındır Tomb and the Kale Neighborhood, and after strolling along the shores of Lake Van, they left the district.
At the end of the trip, Bulanık District Governor Ömer Övünç Koşansu made a statement to the press, stating that Ahlat holds a very special place for him, saying, “For this reason, I thought I must send our students here. Under the ‘Every Journey is a Treasure’ project we prepared as a district governorate, 420 students, under the leadership of 30 of our teachers, had the opportunity to see the historical values of Ahlat. The joy of our students, who are our future, also made us happy. I believe that Turkish youth must definitely visit Ahlat. Ahlat is a place that should be seen as the starting point of Turkish history.”
Bulanık District National Education Director Yalçın Tunçel stated that a pleasant trip was organized for middle school students studying in villages to Ahlat, known for its historical and cultural richness, under the “Every Journey is a Treasure” project initiated by Governor Ömer Övünç Koşansu. Tunçel said, “This trip allowed our students to closely familiarize themselves with our historical heritage and spend time in nature. Our students had the opportunity to see and interpret our cultural and historical values on-site, beyond classroom learning. Therefore, I would like to thank our governor. We also thank Ahlat District Governor Batuhan Bingöl and our Ahlat District National Education Director Rafet Akgün for their hospitality.”
The students who visited Ahlat for the first time expressed that they were quite impressed by Ahlat’s historical and natural beauties.
