Kuşadası Municipality has taken on the rehabilitation of the stream that runs through the city center.

Kuşadası Municipality has taken action to find a definitive solution to the odor problem experienced with the stream passing through the city center. The municipality is preparing to sign a protocol with the State Water Works (DSI) to carry out cleaning and improvement works in the open area of the stream, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Aydın Water and Sewerage Administration General Directorate (ASKI). Additionally, it has applied to ASKİ to identify the source of the odor.

Continuing its efforts to resolve all issues related to the city without making a distinction between ‘authority and responsibility areas’, Kuşadası Municipality has applied to DSI to undertake the improvement works of the open area of the stream that passes through İsmet İnönü Boulevard and has caused complaints due to its odor. With its application to ASKİ, the municipality has requested a detailed analysis to understand the cause of the odor and whether there is any sewage flow into the stream. If DSI responds positively to the request, the cleaning and improvement works of the open area of the stream will be carried out by the teams of Kuşadası Municipality in accordance with the analysis report to be provided by ASKİ.

Kuşadası Deputy Mayor Yusuf Atak stated that they are in communication with relevant institutions to solve all problems concerning the city, saying, “As Kuşadası Municipality, we are ready to do our part to address the odor problem related to the stream, for which the responsibility for improvement lies with DSI and ASKİ. For this purpose, we have applied to DSI requesting the transfer of the authority for the improvement of the open area of the stream to Kuşadası Municipality. To ensure a permanent solution to the problem, we have also applied to ASKİ to investigate the source of the odor. We will do our best to resolve the issue based on the responses we receive.”
