The project titled “Development of Formulations for Coating Cereal Seeds” led by Prof. Dr. Şenay Şanlıer from the Department of Biochemistry at Ege University Faculty of Science has been deemed eligible for support under the TÜBİTAK Individual Young Entrepreneurs “BİGG” program. In this project, environmentally friendly and sustainable agricultural concept seed coating formulations will be developed.

Ege University Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Budak congratulated the project team during their visit to his office. Prof. Dr. Budak stated, “As a research university with full accreditation, the projects developed by our academics continue to receive support from important institutions and organizations as we improve our science and technology-based ecosystem. Our faculty member Prof. Dr. Şanlıer and his team will develop seed coating formulations that support environmentally friendly and sustainable agriculture. I congratulate our professor and his team and wish them success in their work.”

Providing information about the project, Prof. Dr. Şanlıer stated, “In this project, we will develop innovative and environmentally friendly seed coating formulations using technical knowledge and experience from the fields of biochemistry, molecular biology, and plant biology, and we will present these formulations to the seed industry. Thus, we aim to be competitive in the international market and reduce dependency on imports. The main goal of this project is to increase efficiency in agriculture, protect natural resources, and contribute to a sustainable agricultural model, leaving a more livable world for future generations.”

The project team includes Zeynep Gaye Hamarat, a master’s student from the Department of Medical Biology at Ege University Faculty of Medicine, and Bengisu Taşdelen, a master’s student from the Department of Advertising at Ege University Faculty of Communication.
