Athletes highlighting violence incidents will cycle 1,250 kilometers.

The Manisa Tarzanlar Bicycle Group, aiming to draw attention to social violence incidents with the slogan ‘Do Not Allow Violence, Allow Bicycles’, will pedal 1,250 kilometers from Manisa to Göbeklitepe in Şanlıurfa. The group members were seen off to Göbeklitepe by Yunusemre Mayor Semih Balaban.

The cyclists from Manisa will set off from Yunusemre and will draw attention to social violence incidents over the course of 1,250 kilometers. In the 101st year of the Republic, the Manisa Tarzanlar Bicycle Group, wanting to highlight murders of women and children as well as incidents of social violence, will pedal for 1,250 kilometers to Göbeklitepe with the support of Yunusemre Municipality. The athletes, who set out with the slogan ‘Do Not Allow Violence, Allow Bicycles’, were seen off by Yunusemre Mayor Semih Balaban, Deputy Mayors Ali Kuyumcu and Haydar İzci. Group President Sabri Bozkurt, who received the Turkish flag from Mayor Balaban, will deliver the Turkish flag to the Mayor of Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality.

Yunusemre Mayor Semih Balaban stated that the journey of the Manisa Tarzanlar Bicycle Group has an important theme and expressed his wish for an end to social violence. Mayor Balaban said, “Violence incidents in our society have increased significantly. As you mentioned in your slogan, we need to put an end to these acts of violence. I believe that the bicycle tour you organized in the 101st year of our Republic will significantly contribute to raising social awareness. I wish you a safe journey and hope you complete your tour without any accidents.”

Group President Sabri Bozkurt expressed their sadness regarding incidents of social violence and thanked Yunusemre Mayor Semih Balaban for his support in organizing the bicycle tour.
