AK Party Bursa Deputy Refik Özen mentioned the health investments made in Bursa in his speech at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. Speaking about the delayed construction of Bursa Ali Osman Sönmez State Hospital, Özen stated that it will be completed as soon as possible by going out to tender.

AK Party Bursa Deputy Refik Özen delivered a speech in the Turkish Grand National Assembly. Özen noted that during the 22 years of AK Party rule, health investments in Bursa have been implemented without slowing down, stating that 17 hospitals and oral and dental health centers have been established, providing 3,409 qualified patient beds and 90 dental units. Regarding the Bursa Ali Osman Sönmez State Hospital, which is planned to be completed in 2024, Özen said that the hospital, which could not be completed due to the contractor leaving the project, will be completed as soon as possible by reopening the tender.

3,409 qualified patient beds and 90 dental units were provided to Bursa in 22 years

AK Party Bursa Deputy Refik Özen said, “During the 22 years we have left behind under AK Party governments, we have made revolutionary transformations in every field, including health. We completed 17 hospitals and oral and dental health centers in Bursa and dedicated them to our people. In this context, we renovated all our district hospitals. With these investments, we have provided our city with 3,409 qualified patient beds and 90 dental units. The financial value of completed and ongoing investments is approximately 24.5 billion Turkish Liras. The most important of these investments is the Bursa City Hospital, which we brought to Bursa and from which our people have left with great satisfaction.”

Bursa Ali Osman Sönmez State Hospital will be completed as soon as possible

Özen stated that the Bursa Ali Osman Sönmez State Hospital, which is planned to be completed in 2024, was delayed due to the contractor leaving the project, and he said that the remaining works will be completed by going out to tender as soon as possible. He added, “After the Bursa City Hospital and other investments made in our Bursa province, the second largest investment is the 1,315-bed Bursa Ali Osman Sönmez State Hospital. The project started on July 24, 2020, with a contract signed between the Ministry and the contractor. The duration of the work was set at 800 days, and due to the pandemic, earthquakes, and project revisions experienced during the construction process, the completion date was determined as August 17, 2024. During the inspections conducted on May 23-24, 2024, it was determined that the work had come to a standstill, and the situation was recorded. After warnings, production on-site resumed. However, production activities were again slowed to the point of halting, and during an inspection on August 13, 2024, it was found that the contractor had actually left the site. Following the Ministry’s instructions, security measures were provided by the Bursa Provincial Health Directorate’s security personnel on-site until August 17, 2024. Despite warnings during this process, when activities did not begin in the construction area, the workers’ contracts were terminated on September 16, 2024. The termination acceptance and determination commission established on September 17, 2024, completed the determination process, which began on September 30, 2024, as of now. Simultaneously with the situation determination, the necessary cost and technical specification studies for the completion of the remaining works through a new tender have been completed, and it will be ensured that the remaining works are completed as soon as possible by going out to tender shortly.
