Psychologist Buse Şimşek, who stated that violence against women leads to violations of human rights, said, “Violence against women is a violation of human rights due to discriminatory attitudes and behaviors based on gender that are applied simply because the other person is a woman and that affect women.”

Regarding the subject, Psychologist Buse Şimşek from Onma Psychology made statements. Psychologist Şimşek said, “Violence is a set of attitudes and behaviors that result in or are foreseeable to result in situations where an individual is subjected to physical, sexual, psychological, or economic harm or suffers pain, causing threats, pressures, and arbitrary restrictions on freedom. Violence against women leads to violations of human rights through discriminatory attitudes and behaviors based on gender applied simply because the other person is a woman.”

“Childhood traumas increase the tendency for violence”

Explaining the types of violence that violate women’s most basic rights, Psychologist Şimşek stated, “Physical violence, sexual violence, psychological violence, and economic violence are types that violate women’s fundamental rights and turn into a threat to their lives. Additionally, femicides, while based on gender, are generally a form of violence perpetrated by a man known to the woman, often by her partner or family members. In some cases, it has been observed that men who commit this violence have psychological or emotional issues. Especially childhood traumas, poor parenting models, and personality disorders can increase the tendency for violence. However, these psychological issues are not the fundamental cause of violence; they are merely factors that facilitate the emergence of the situation.”

“The real reasons behind manipulative justifications should be questioned”

Psychologist Buse Şimşek also mentioned that men who perpetrate violence manipulate the situation, and then added:

“Nowadays, we often see that violent men use these factors as excuses to cover up their actions through manipulation. These manipulations are generally excuses that downplay the situation and allow the person to escape responsibility. Such excuses used to cover up violence against women aim to legitimize the situation by concealing the true nature of the violence. These excuses reduce the responsibility of the violent man while placing the woman in a position of guilt. Remember that no excuse can justify violence, regardless of the reason presented. On the contrary, the real reasons behind such manipulative justifications should be questioned.”
