Wild boars, which have become a nightmare for citizens in several villages in Bilecik and have caused significant damage to crops, were shot by hunters.
In the villages of Taşcılar, Çukurören, and Gökpınar, wild boars coming in herds into cultivated fields and gardens have made it difficult for villagers. Due to the damage caused by the boars to farmers’ vineyards and gardens, villagers have been unable to harvest their crops. To combat the herds of boars that enter the vineyards, gardens, walnut groves, and sunflower fields around the village, the villagers sought help from hunters. Basri Kuş and his team, who hunt in Bilecik, obtained the necessary permits upon the request of the villagers and went hunting. The team quickly shot several wild boars weighing between 250 and 300 kg.
“We are putting up electric wires for protection, but they break them too.”
Nejdet Bilgin, a resident of Taşcılar Village, shared that they are very afraid of being attacked by these large boars even while working in their vineyards and gardens, stating, “The boars constantly enter our vineyards, gardens, and fields and damage our crops. If we weren’t harmed, we wouldn’t want to kill them; honestly, we sometimes fear for our lives. Many villagers have to sleep in their fields at night to protect them from the boars. There are a lot of boar herds here. Sometimes we see them in herds and we try to drive them away from the fields with our own means. We are putting up electric wires for protection, but they break them too,” he said.
The villagers also thanked Basri Kuş and his team, wishing all hunters a safe and successful hunt.
