Cüneyd Dayhan, the President of the Board of the İzmir Kestanepazarı Student Development Association, stated that the terrorist leader Gülen, who is associated with the name ‘Kestanepazarı’, has no connection to their associations and that he was expelled from here in 1971 during his time as a preacher.

The death of FETÖ armed terrorist organization leader Fetullah Gülen, who was declared dead by supporters of the terrorist organization while living in Pennsylvania, USA, was also welcomed with joy in İzmir. The name of the Kestanepazarı Mosque, where he began to announce his name and served as a preacher between 1967-1971, was sometimes associated with Fetullah Gülen. Cüneyd Dayhan, the President of the Kestanepazarı Student Development Association, which was established in 1945 in İzmir and continues its activities under the auspices of the Directorate of Religious Affairs with the support of its benefactors, stated that the terrorist leader Gülen has no connection to their associations and that he was expelled in 1971 during his time as a preacher.

Expelled 53 years ago

Cüneyd Dayhan, the President of the Kestanepazarı Student Development Association, stated that Fetullah Gülen was expelled from his position as a preacher for reflecting his own views to the congregation and emphasized that the terrorist leader has never been one of them. Dayhan said, “The Kestanepazarı Student Development Association, which has been providing uninterrupted Quran education for over a century, has never allowed any illegal individuals seeking to infiltrate since its establishment. All activities are completely under the supervision of the Directorate of Religious Affairs in Quran courses, and the student dormitories it owns continue their activities under the supervision of the Ministry of National Education. The former president of our association was removed from his position by the board of directors at that time due to his discomfort with this individual’s reading of his own works, which is the only position he held during his time as a preacher at Kestanepazarı Mosque between 1967-1971. He has been recorded as the first person expunged from institutions in İzmir and Turkey. And I can comfortably say this: Fetullah Gülen has never been a member of our board of directors, nor has he ever been a member of our association,” he said.

“He will answer to Allah”

Speaking about Gülen’s death, Cüneyd Dayhan stated, “Regarding his death, I can say this: ‘The time for punishment has come for the disbelievers.’ I say. Everyone will answer to Allah for what they have done. They will answer to Allah for everything that has been inflicted on this nation and deemed acceptable for this nation.”
