Ergan Mountain Ski Resort aims to attract 1 million tourists in the new season!

The opening date of the season is approaching at the Erzincan Ergan Mountain Ski Center, where the summit is covered with snow and snowfall is effective. Erzincan Deputy Governor / General Secretary of the Provincial Special Administration Mehmet Emre Canpolat made statements about the projects to be carried out at Ergan Mountain during the 2024-2025 winter season.

The Ergan Mountain Ski Center aims to host 1 million tourists in the new season as a center with locally designed bungalow houses that operates all year round! Mehmet Emre Canpolat stated that an average of 20,000 to 50,000 tourists were hosted at the Ergan Mountain Ski Center in previous years, and this number reached 250,000 during the 2023-2024 winter season, with over 500,000 in the first 9 months of 2024. Canpolat said, “We presented Ergan Mountain not just as a ski center but as a center that operates throughout the year during the spring and summer months. Therefore, we hosted over 500,000 guests. In the 2024-2025 season, we foresee hosting 500,000 guests in the winter season, and for 2025, we aim to host 1 million guests! When we reach the mentioned figures, Erzincan Ergan Ski Center will be among the ski centers hosting a million tourists.”

In the new season, Ergan Mountain will have a new sledding track! Emre Canpolat stated that the construction works of the new sledding track, which is planned to be completed within 10 days, are progressing rapidly and noted that sledding is a culture particularly favored by families with children in Erzincan. Canpolat stated that families enjoy spending quality time with their children on the track.

Then, Canpolat provided information about the grassing activities on the track, stating that grassing works are ongoing at the Ergan Mountain ski track. Canpolat noted that the grassing activities extend the retention period of the snow that falls during the season and that grass skiing will be conducted in the spring months thanks to the grassing activity. He expressed that the grassing activity being carried out in Ergan is a rare practice both in the world and in Turkey, stating, “In the coming seasons, we plan to grass the entire track up to the summit. This method will extend the retention period of the snow and ensure that the stones in the track remain under the grass. This will minimize damage to our skiers’ sleds.”

“Skiers will stay in Ergan” Canpolat announced that the construction of bungalow houses will be completed in November 2024, and that skiers who previously had no accommodation options in Ergan Mountain will now be able to stay. He also mentioned that the area where the bungalow houses will host guests is under construction for a ‘stackhouse’ meat restaurant.

Beginners will learn skiing in Ergan! Canpolat stated that “Professional skiers and beginners used to meet at the same starting point.” He announced that the beginner slope located in the first phase of Ergan Mountain has been constructed in a new area to allow beginners to learn skiing more comfortably and to further enhance the comfort of professionals, and that the work on the beginner slope will be completed in about 15 days.

Ergan Mountain High Altitude Camp Center will host major sports clubs! Canpolat also provided information about the High Altitude Camp Center, which is conducted under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, stating, “We hope to complete the 156-bed camp center next year. We have two large football fields right next to the high altitude camp center. We hope to host major sports clubs here in the coming years.”

The foundation of the hotel planned to be built at Ergan Mountain Ski Center will be laid at the end of the season! Canpolat reported that the hotel tender at Ergan Mountain Ski Center has been held, and that the tender for the hotel, which is approximately worth 150 million, has been finalized, and that the project will be approved and the foundation laying ceremony will be held within 6 months. He stated that this project would not be completed in this season, saying, “Towards the end of the 2024-2025 season, when the construction season opens, we will hold the foundation laying ceremony.” On the other hand, Canpolat stated that with the Rota Erzincan application, citizens can access a lot of information about the city, as well as information about the ski center, such as available slopes, open ski lifts, chairlifts, and gondolas, and that the application also provides 24-hour camera service to guests.
