Karabük University (KBÜ) held a “Advisory Board and Stakeholder” meeting with the participation of stakeholders through its Occupational Health and Safety Application and Research Center.

The meeting, conducted under the motto “Occupational health and safety is a civilization-building project, it is humanity, and it is a human right,” was attended by Prof. Dr. Yavuz Sun, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at KBÜ, Prof. Dr. Bilge Demir from the Occupational Health and Safety Application and Research Center, Deputy Directors Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Nuri Yıldırım and Dr. Faculty Member Hasan Eker, as well as representatives from Beyaz Baret and Hayat OSGB operating in the field of occupational safety in Karabük, officials from Karabük İŞKUR, and senior engineer Yılmaz Olcay from the technology transfer office.

In the meeting, short, medium, and long-term goals were evaluated. The meeting discussed the problems of occupational health and safety in working life, identifying these problems with industry and universities, and the work and steps that can be taken to eliminate these issues by developing joint projects. There was an exchange of views on national and international project goals.

At the end of the meeting, a national and an international project goal were set as the KBÜ Occupational Health and Safety Application and Research Center. There was an agreement on establishing the center’s website with a planned concept that includes corporate structure and R&D laboratories. It was stated that projects would be developed aimed at primary and secondary schools in Karabük and comprehensive studies would be conducted for the sector. It was decided to form project teams from Karabük University and occupational safety and health professionals in the province.

Participants in the meeting expressed that the synergy created would be an important start for success. In the second meeting to be held in a month, it was planned to set a national project and an Erasmus project goal, along with Project Consultant Yılmaz Olcay providing training on project preparation for the sector. Additionally, it was planned to organize meetings with broader participation involving public and private sector representatives in Karabük in the following processes.
