Work continues on the Konya-Karaman-Ulukışla High-Speed Train Line.

Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay, AK Party Konya MP Mehmet Baykan, and AK Party Konya Provincial Chairman Hasan Angı inspected the construction of the underpass and station in Ereğli as part of the ongoing Konya-Karaman-Ulukışla High-Speed Train Line. Following the inspection of the construction works for the new high-speed train line to be brought to Ereğli by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, AK Party Konya Provincial Chairman Hasan Angı stated that the Karaman-Ulukışla line is an important route for Konya. Angı noted that the construction work on the high-speed train line connecting Konya to Mersin is ongoing, saying, “This work is important not only for Ereğli but also as a significant transit point in freight and passenger transportation that will connect Central Anatolia to the sea. The fact that it will be a double-track line with signaling and can reach speeds of 160-170 kilometers per hour increases its importance several times over. I hope it will be completed and put into service as soon as possible.”

“We will have made a new start for both freight and passenger transport”

Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay stated that they conducted inspections at the high-speed train line construction site during their visit to Ereğli. Reminding that work on the overpass construction in the section passing through the city is continuing at full speed, Mayor Altay continued: “Previously, two overpasses were completed. When this one is completed, the urban line will be sterilized. Since 2014, the Konya Metropolitan Municipality has been carrying out significant services in Ereğli while our government is also undertaking very important projects. Our city, which uses the high-speed train between Konya and Ankara, will continue its journey to Adana with the Konya-Karaman line. God willing, when the Ulukuşla-Mersin line is completed, we will have made a new start for both freight and passenger transportation. Teams are working intensively for Ereğli to meet high-speed trains. We thank our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, our Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdülkadir Uraloğlu, AGM, and TCDD. May it be beneficial for Ereğli.”

“Beautiful works have been done in transportation during our AK Party governments”

AK Party Konya MP Mehmet Baykan also stated, “God willing, with the ongoing works quickly, by the end of 2026, both the high-speed train and our other train lines will be in service. We have witnessed the rapid development of high-speed train projects in all corners of our country during the AK Party governments, and we continue to do so. Transportation is very important for bringing people together and speeding up logistics in freight transportation. In this regard, very nice works have been done during our AK Party governments. Double roads, high-speed train lines, bridges, viaducts, tunnels—these projects have contributed greatly to our country, our economy, and our social structure. We had the opportunity to inspect the underpass and station construction at our high-speed train construction site. God willing, we will also see its opening as soon as possible,” he said.

AK Party Ereğli District Chairman İbrahim Erol also expressed his gratitude for the investments brought to the district.

With the completion of the 135 km long project connected to the Konya-Karaman high-speed train line, the travel time between Karaman and Ulukışla, which is currently 3 hours and 40 minutes, will be reduced to 1 hour and 35 minutes. The project includes 2 tunnels, 44 underpasses and overpasses, and 153 bridges and culverts.
