Statement from the Physicians’ Chamber in Erzurum regarding the ‘Newborn Gang Operation’.

Dr. Furkan Soner Taş, the President of the Erzurum Bayburt Gümüşhane Medical Chamber Board, made evaluations regarding the “Newborn Gang Operation.”

In a statement he made about the issue that has come to the forefront of the national agenda as the “Newborn Gang Operation,” Dr. Furkan Soner Taş said, “A series of heinous incidents have occurred following the threat against our honorable public prosecutor. The stance of our Erzurum Bayburt Gümüşhane Medical Chamber against such events is clear, and necessary instructions have been given to your legal unit regarding the follow-up of the process to ensure that the perpetrators receive the punishment they deserve. Furthermore, following the emergence of this incident, complaints and tips have started to be received from other provinces regarding similar cases. So far, there has been no report or complaint directed to us specifically from Erzurum. This is a reassuring situation. The stance of the Erzurum Medical Chamber and its management against such incidents is clear, and our word is a guarantee. Applications from your citizens who have faced such a situation in our province, have not received legal support, and have not made any application because they thought it would not result in anything will be carefully evaluated by our Medical Chamber.”

“We were not surprised by the statements”

Dr. Furkan Soner Taş expressed that they would fully support the initiatives that the authorities would take to prevent similar heinous incidents from happening again, stating, “The President of the Turkish Medical Association Central Council and its management preferred to make a superficial statement regarding the perpetrators of the incident that would not surprise us again, signing another scandalous statement with an explanation that aims to transfer the heinous incident to other channels, essentially stating ‘the individuals are not guilty.’ In fact, as the Erzurum Medical Chamber, we evaluate how and for what purpose such a statement was made, considering the past records of the Central Council President and management, as a ‘Look at the Juggler’ game, and we invite them to make a more comprehensive statement that will not disrespect the public. As the Erzurum Bayburt Gümüşhane Medical Chamber, we extend our condolences to the citizens who lost their children as a result of these incidents and to our esteemed nation.”
