MP Alkayış: “Journalists are people of cause who act with a sense of responsibility.”

AK Party Adıyaman Deputy Lawyer Mustafa Alkayış celebrated October 21st, Journalist Day, stating that the journalism profession has a fundamental purpose of providing accurate information to people and that journalists are responsible and self-sacrificing individuals. He emphasized that journalists, who inform people with fairness based on accurate sources, are responsible individuals and that each press member represents this important cause. Deputy Alkayış pointed out that at the core of the journalism profession lie qualities such as courage, justice, and knowledge.
Deputy Mustafa Alkayış said, “Accessing news is an important need for people. People want to learn what is happening in their surroundings, their hometowns, or the world, and after learning, they want to develop attitudes and thoughts about the subject. Journalists, who work day and night to meet this fundamental need of people, are indispensable to our society. The profession of journalism, which is not as easy as it is assumed, has its own challenges. Journalists are brave and knowledgeable individuals who, in order to inform society, risk their lives in all conditions and geographies, whether in snow or rain, in war or peace, and they sometimes go out in danger to chase news. Courage and journalism are two concepts that fit very well together. Courage alone is not enough to be a journalist. Journalists are also knowledgeable individuals. They know how to write and convey the news they obtain and are aware of the repercussions after they report it. A journalist does not start speaking from the middle of the book. They know where to start, how to continue, and how to conclude the news. In addition to being courageous and knowledgeable, journalists are principled and honest individuals. Knowing that misguiding people will have serious consequences for individuals and society, they only pursue the truth. Truthfulness is their motto. Each of our brothers and sisters who have dedicated themselves to the profession of journalism are courageous and responsible individuals.”
