Adana Governor Yavuz Selim Köşger announced that 500,000 skewers of meat and 400,000 bottles of turnip juice were consumed during the 8th International Adana Flavor Festival, which lasted for 4 days.
The 8th International Adana Flavor Festival, hosted by the Adana Governorship and organized with the contributions of the Metropolitan Municipality, district municipalities, chambers, and non-governmental organizations, was completed in Central Park.
Governor Köşger stated that 500,000 skewers of meat and 400,000 bottles of turnip juice were consumed at the festival.
He expressed that sales were made at 76 booths in the area at Central Park, which included 48 women’s cooperative booths and 13 municipality booths, saying, “Adana is a city that is not just about kebabs, but when you think of Adana, the first flavors that come to mind are of course kebab and the indispensable turnip juice that goes with it. This year, approximately 500,000 skewers of meat and 400,000 bottles of turnip juice were consumed at our festival.”
“800,000 people visited”
Governor Köşger conveyed that Adana has now become an important part of gastronomic tourism, stating that over 800,000 people visited the festival:
“More than 800,000 people visited the festival. This year’s festival not only promoted our ancient city’s rich culinary culture, historical, and touristic values but also made a significant contribution to the Adana economy. We can talk about a total economic value of 3.7 billion TL, thanks to the expenditures made by both our local citizens and guests from various parts of our country and abroad. Additionally, we evaluate that the news coverage in social media, print, and visual media has been very high. These promotional efforts will greatly contribute to Adana tourism in the coming periods. As I mentioned earlier, our city has significant brand value in gastronomic tourism with its food culture. We aim to create a destination that includes Adana, Hatay, Gaziantep, and possibly Kahramanmaraş, Nevşehir, Mersin, and Şanlıurfa. The support of our regional mayors in this regard is substantial. I also thank them for their support.
