The first guest of the Collective Reading event initiated by the Osmangazi Municipality was author Ahmet Şevki Şakalar. Meeting with his readers, Şakalar held a discussion themed ‘How to Read a Story Book?’ through his new book ‘Bahtiyar Yokuşu’.

Osmangazi Municipality, which attaches great importance to activities in the field of culture and art, continues to organize a wide range of events. The Collective Reading event organized by the Osmangazi Municipality Youth and Sports Services Directorate brings together literature lovers, offering a chance for cultural sharing in a sincere environment. The first guest of the event, held at the Kedili Tekke National Library, was author Ahmet Şevki Şakalar. Discussing the writing process of his new book ‘Bahtiyar Yokuşu’ and giving hints about the stories in the book, Şakalar took participants on a pleasant journey in the literary world.

Providing information about the content of ‘Bahtiyar Yokuşu’, which has attracted great interest from book lovers, Şakalar said: ‘Bahtiyar Yokuşu is the great story of small children from Anatolia. It is a genuine narrative that reflects the dizzying daily life of people in the metropolis, where everyone can find examples from their own lives. In that narrative, hidden deep stories in small details, time fragments overflowing from journeys, the dilemmas of the modern age, and ultimately the never-ending and unceasing great story of humanity are present. ‘Bahtiyar Yokuşu’ is the writer’s journey of writing, a quest for meaning, a journey of searching for humanity and finding truth.’

Ahmet Şevki Şakalar shared with the participants his views on the stages a story goes through before it enters the pages of a book, as well as a writer’s reasons for writing, his quests, and whether or not to be a witness of his time. Şakalar emphasized that what is truly important is not to produce works in any genre of art such as story, novel, poetry, or essay, but to leave beautiful memories in this world and that being a good person and being among good people is much more valuable.

At the end of the program, Şakalar thanked Osmangazi Mayor Erkan Aydın and those who contributed to the organization of the Collective Reading event for their sensitivity towards art and culture.
