A Journey Through History in Oltu

During the celebrations of the 101st anniversary of the Republic, an important event was organized in the Oltu district of Erzurum to convey the region’s history and contributions to the National Struggle to students.

Ceren Alptürkan Erdil, the Director of Oltu Public Library, organized an event on the occasion of the 101st anniversary of the Republic. Professor Dr. Erdal Aydoğan, author of the book “Oltu Shura Government’s Armenian Struggle,” met with students at Oltu Anatolian Girls’ Imam Hatip School through a program organized by Erdil.

At the event organized by Oltu Public Library, Professor Dr. Erdal Aydoğan came together with book lovers in the Conference Hall of Oltu Girls’ Anatolian Imam Hatip High School. The program was attended by Oltu District Governor Mustafa Çelik, Deputy Mayor İsrafil Arslan, Chief Public Prosecutor Mustafa Küçükbekir, institutional managers, students, and many citizens.

In the conversation, Aydoğan deeply addressed the historical topics covered in his book, emphasizing the importance of Oltu. Participants listened attentively to Aydoğan’s narratives while gaining new insights into the district’s past. The event continued with a Q&A session where participants posed questions to Erdal Aydoğan and a signing event. At the end of the event, a plaque was presented to Aydoğan in gratitude for his contributions to the district. The people of Oltu had the opportunity to witness the historical richness of the district once again through this meaningful meeting. Participants expressed that such events in Oltu are of great importance in instilling historical awareness in younger generations and promoting local culture.
