The festival brought together olive oil producers and consumers, which is an important culture of the region.
The opening of the FestOlive Edremit Olive Oil Tasting Festival, which introduces visitors to the story of how olives from the fertile lands of Kazdağları reach our tables as olive oil, was held. The opening ceremony took place with great enthusiasm, attended by CHP Balıkesir Member of Parliament Serkan Sarı, Edremit District Governor Ahmet Odabaş, Edremit Chamber of Commerce President Ahmet Çetin, Edremit Mayor Mehmet Ertaş, Municipal Council Member Nevin Sayman on behalf of Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality, Edremit Commodity Exchange President Tarkan Denizer, council members, protocol members, and representatives of NGOs and associations. The festival, hosted by the Edremit Chamber of Commerce and Edremit Commodity Exchange with the contributions of Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality and Edremit Municipality, features discussions, olive oil tastings, and various activities.
In his opening speech, Edremit Chamber of Commerce President Ahmet Çetin stated, “Edremit olives, which preserve the century-old flavor of Kazdağları in every seed, and the olive oils that flow from the heart of this geography are cultivated with respect for nature to be preserved with the same care and quality for generations; a legacy reaching into the future is being built by preserving the bounty of the soil with sustainable food security. The spirit of this ancient geography is kept alive in every drop of olive oil and is carried to our tables for generations. The olive trees that have been grown in these fertile lands for centuries are considered one of the most valuable legacies offered by nature. The FestOlive Edremit Olive Oil Tasting Festival is organized to keep this heritage alive and to introduce real olive oil to the whole world. We are happy to see you among us to witness this unique culture of Edremit and to be a part of sustainable food security while savoring the unique beauty of nature in olive oil.”
