The Sultanbeyli Homeland Days have begun. Speaking at the opening of the homeland days, which received intense interest from the first day, Sultanbeyli Mayor Ali Tombaş said, ‘The Sultanbeyli Homeland Days, which bring together the cultural riches, ancient traditions, and local flavors of our country, have started with great enthusiasm. We invite all our fellow citizens to this cultural festival, which will continue until November 3rd.’

The 1st Sultanbeyli Homeland Days started with high participation. The opening program of the event held at Sultanbeyli Square was attended by Sultanbeyli Mayor Ali Tombaş, Sultanbeyli District Governor Kemal Şahin, district heads of political parties, NGO and association presidents, and many citizens.

‘It received intense interest from the first day’

In his speech at the opening program, Sultanbeyli Mayor Ali Tombaş stated, ‘Sultanbeyli is one of the places in Istanbul where community relations and association activities are best carried out. Sultanbeyli is a beautiful district where Anatolian culture is kept alive, where neighborly relations are very strong, and where there is a sense of connection among people. We organized an event to bring together this strong community and to keep our hometown’s culture alive while also tasting local products with our people. Thank God, it has received a lot of interest because we are part of Anatolia. Sultanbeyli is not like other districts. Our citizens have come from Anatolia and continue their own traditions and customs. Sultanbeyli has the distinction of being the first in this sense. We held the first one this year. There is intense participation and favor from our citizens. It will be open for 16 days and will continue until November 3rd. God willing, we will continue this work.’

After the opening program, Mayor Ali Tombaş and the accompanying delegation visited each booth. They examined the cultural values of each province prepared in their unique way at the booths. Local flavors were offered to the guests.

The first program of the Sultanbeyli Homeland Days, which will host an event of a provincial association every day, was Erzurum Day. Erzurum Day was attended by both Sultanbeyli Mayor Ali Tombaş and Erzurum Metropolitan Mayor Mehmet Sekmen. A full cultural festival was experienced, from bard competitions to folk songs, and from folk dances to poems specific to the Erzurum region. With their melodies, folk songs, and folk dances, the Dadaşlar gave the guests an unforgettable night.
