At the 7th Book Fair organized by the Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality, Kayseri authors Sümer Tek and Prof. Dr. Ayşe Filiz Yavuz met with their readers.
Author Sümer Tek, who lives in Ankara and expressed his excitement about introducing his first book ‘Efeli Hayriye’ to readers in his hometown at the Kayseri Book Fair, said, “I am the author of the book Efeli Hayriye, and this is my first work. I carry the excitement and pride of having my first signing day in my hometown of Kayseri. My book Efeli Hayriye consists of real-life stories that have been lived in Kayseri. I wrote it to pay my debt of gratitude to the lands where I was born, raised, and grew up, in order to keep alive the culture and wisdom of Anatolia, and to preserve the memories of my ancestors. It is really beautiful to be here, and I am very excited to meet my fellow citizens. We are in autumn, but just like the colorful leaves of autumn, it is a beautiful environment with people from 7 to 70. It’s really wonderful. Book fairs are very important for us writers because experiencing the mutual excitement of meeting our readers when our written works come together, getting to know them, receiving their comments, and presenting our works for their appreciation is very, very important for us writers,” he said.
Prof. Dr. Ayşe Filiz Yavuz, Vice President of the Turkish Hearths and an author, also expressed her happiness of being in Kayseri as a resident of Develi, stating, “Today I will sign 3 books. Two of them are stories, one consists of short stories and the other consists of regular stories. One is a collection of essays. I have a book of essays titled ‘The Wild Horses Inside Me,’ which I wrote based on the experiences life brings and the evaluation of what I have seen. It consists of quite short writings but I believe it will provide a pleasant time and evoke different emotions in people. The stories I write are also influenced by my profession as a physician. Particularly, in my story titled ‘The Wife of the Pure Turk,’ I started with the story of a patient I brought from Gagavuzya. Since they are unifying stories with the Turkish World, I recommend them to my readers because of both the interesting title and its roots in real life. The feedback has been quite good. I would like to express that I am very happy to be here as someone from Develi and Kayseri. The fact that there are so many people here as soon as the fair opens makes me very happy. We were used to the crowded fairs in Ankara, but this place does not seem to fall short of that. This is also encouraging. It is very uplifting to see people reading,” she stated.
The authors will meet with their readers at the Kayseri 7th Book Fair until 5:00 PM today.
