The new executive committee members of the Şehzadeler City Council Children’s Assembly were determined through elections.
The election for the new term executive committee of the Şehzadeler City Council Children’s Assembly concluded with a general assembly meeting. The election held at the historic Bedesten Hall was attended by Şehzadeler Mayor Gülşah Durbay, Vice President Yenal Yıldırım, Şehzadeler City Council President Yasemin Gümüş, Yunusemre City Council President Bektaş Kılınç, students who were candidates for the Children’s Assembly, and their parents. The election process took place in an exciting and competitive atmosphere.
The meeting began with speeches from the presidential candidates. The candidates expressed their projects and views on the importance of children in city management. Şehzadeler Mayor Gülşah Durbay emphasized in her speech that children are the leaders of the future and stated that the Children’s Assembly is an important step for children to gain awareness of democracy.
President Durbay highlighted the significance of the Republic of Turkey established by Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, saying, “I am honored to be an elected female mayor thanks to the Republic. You will also be the mayors and managers of the future.”
Expressing her pride in being an elected female mayor thanks to the Republic, President Durbay said, “I am very happy to be here among you today. You are the bright futures of our country and the hope of our Republic. As Şehzadeler Municipality, I believe we will do beautiful works with our children and produce beautiful outcomes. I will always be your supporter,” thanking all the children who participated in the general assembly.
In addition to President Durbay, Şehzadeler Deputy Mayor Yenal Yıldırım, Şehzadeler City Council President Yasemin Gümüş, and Şehzadeler City Council Children’s Assembly Consultant Ayşe Çevik also gave brief speeches.
After the speeches, the students went to the ballot box to cast their votes. As a result of the elections, the members of the Şehzadeler Children’s Assembly Executive Committee were determined.
Out of 21 candidates, 9 members were elected as full members to the Şehzadeler City Council Children’s Assembly Executive Committee, while it was stated that all 21 candidate students would actively work equally in the executive committee. The elected executive committee members stated that they would work on various projects to ensure a more active participation of children in city management in the upcoming term.
As the election process concluded, the new executive committee members of the Şehzadeler City Council Children’s Assembly experienced the excitement of starting their duties. Mayor Durbay wished success to the elected students, stating, “Every decision made in this assembly will be a step towards building a better future for children in our city.”
