Yiğit Aytekin, who operates a mobile phone shop in Eskişehir, announced that they expect the IMEI registration fees for phones brought from abroad to rise from 31,692 TL to 45,953 TL.

The IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) consists of 15 digits and is produced separately for each device to ensure the security of mobile phones. Individuals who want to bring phones during their travels abroad must register their purchased phones for 31,692 TL to be able to use them, but this price is expected to rise to 45,953 TL by the beginning of 2025. Yiğit Aytekin, who commented on the issue, stated that they would welcome a decision in this direction positively. He expressed that the decrease in sales of foreign phones has increased the demand for taxable phones and advised citizens who want to bring devices from other countries and benefit from the old price to complete their IMEI registration processes through the e-Government portal by December 31, 2024.

“The last day for price change is December 31”

Yiğit Aytekin, the mobile phone shop owner, said, “In 2024, the passport registration fee, which is currently 31,692 TL, is expected to rise to 45,953 TL. This will lead to fewer registrations of phones coming from abroad and will increase the sales of phones in the domestic market. As local tradespeople, we view this decision very positively because it makes it easier for us to sell products, and the number of phones coming from abroad decreases. Therefore, we can sell more products. What should the customer pay attention to at this point? The last day for price change is December 31. They can carry out the IMEI registration process at the old price until that date. If we are bringing phones from abroad, we need to pay the taxes and make sure to register them because the usage period is 120 days. Passport registration fees are paid through the e-Government portal. Afterwards, the IMEI registration processes are also done via e-Government. It is important to pay attention to writing correctly while registering the IMEI.”
