At the Çukurova Healthy Life Center in Adana, where specialists from various fields serve, in addition to cancer screenings, health-related information, support, and consultancy services are provided. Since its establishment, the center has provided healing to approximately 100,000 clients.

Established by the Ministry of Health in 2017 in the Yurt neighborhood of Çukurova district, the Çukurova Healthy Life Center employs specialists from various fields such as midwives, dietitians, physiotherapists, psychologists, and dentists. After comprehensive evaluations and examinations, those who apply to the center are referred to the relevant clinics. The center plays a significant role in accessing health services for older individuals, providing examination and training opportunities for women aged 40 to 69 for early detection of breast cancer.

“We conduct screenings for three cancers at our center”
Çukurova Healthy Life Center’s Responsible Physician, Füsun Tokbay, provided information about the center to İhlas News Agency reporters. Tokbay stated that they have an effective approach towards individuals with chronic illnesses, saying, “There are 8 centers like ours in Adana. At the Healthy Life Center, activities are carried out to teach citizens a healthy lifestyle, addressing the causes of diseases and ways to prevent them before falling ill. In our centers, we provide information, support, and consultancy services aimed at disease prevention through teamwork and a holistic approach. We conduct screenings for three cancers that can be detected early and are preventable at our center.”

“Turkey’s population is aging”
Tokbay emphasized that Turkey’s population is aging day by day, stating, “In 2023, 10.2% of our entire population will be made up of those over 65 years old, and it is expected that by 2050, 20.8% of the population will be over 65. Therefore, we place great importance on our Healthy Aging and Elderly Health Consultancy Unit. We also have a Reproductive Health Consultancy Unit, a School Health Consultancy Unit, and a Child and Adolescent Health Consultancy Unit. We serve our citizens with 12 units.”

“Early diagnosis saves lives”
Highlighting that the Çukurova Healthy Life Center has served approximately 100,000 clients since 2017, Füsun Tokbay stated, “In 2017, our client number was 4,993, and today it has reached 94,255. Unfortunately, among these clients, we have detected breast cancer in 108 women since our opening. These were early diagnoses. In 2024, 19,687 people applied to the Çukurova Healthy Life Center, and among these applicants, we conducted breast cancer screenings for 6,987 women, and unfortunately, 25 women were diagnosed with cancer. We continue to provide our support through treatment processes and afterwards with psychologists, dietitians, and exercise planning.”
