Bursa Uludağ University has been awarded with the “Outstanding Achievement Certificate” by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources for exceeding the 15% energy savings target set forth by the Presidential Circular No. 2019/18.

Speaking at the certificate presentation ceremony, BUÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Ferudun Yılmaz emphasized that the success, which is considered a critical step in contributing to Turkey’s energy strategies, plays a strategic role particularly in reducing the current account deficit and in effective financial management in the public sector. Prof. Dr. Ferudun Yılmaz highlighted that by successfully exceeding the energy efficiency targets, they have once again demonstrated their determination to save costs in the public sector and contribute to energy policies; stating, “This document not only contributes directly to the reduction of the current account deficit by promoting the use of domestic energy resources but also in terms of reducing costs. Energy efficiency is an important element not only from a financial benefit perspective but also in terms of reducing dependency on foreign energy.”

“We have been pioneers in energy efficiency”

Rector Yılmaz stated that the projects carried out under the energy efficiency policy not only reduced costs within the university but also led to an increase in effective energy management and conservation practices within the university. He remarked, “All our activities in this regard have enabled more efficient use of energy resources and advanced our university’s energy management strategies. This success has reinforced our university’s position as a pioneer in energy efficiency and has become an important example of efforts to reduce energy expenses in the public sector.”

Significant reduction in consumption costs

Emphasizing the energy savings achieved through the modernization of heating systems in 14 buildings across the university, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Cafer Çiftci stated, “Thanks to the modernization of heating systems, there has been a significant decrease in energy consumption, and serious reductions have been recorded in natural gas consumption costs of the buildings. These efforts are concrete evidence of the success of the university’s energy management strategies.”

BUÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Ferudun Yılmaz and Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Cafer Çiftci presented success certificates to the unit representatives at the university.
