Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer kicked off the first of the Neighborhood Meetings he initiated with the slogan “Our Neighborhood is Ours, Our Decisions are Joint” today in the Selahaddin Eyyubi Neighborhood.

During the meeting organized in Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu Park as part of the “Our Neighborhood is Ours, Our Decisions are Joint” project by the Esenyurt Municipality, Mayor Ahmet Özer had one-on-one conversations with neighborhood residents, listening to their requests. At the event, which saw strong participation from the people of Esenyurt, the issues of the residents were discussed, and detailed information was provided about the municipality’s projects. Mayor Özer stated that with such meetings, they aim to reach every neighborhood in Esenyurt and ensure greater public participation in decision-making processes. Citizens communicated directly with Mayor Özer about the changes they wish to see in their neighborhoods and the services they need, sharing their expectations for the future within the framework of the understanding of “Our Neighborhood is Ours, Our Decisions are Joint.” The event was attended by Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer, district NGO representatives, many directors from Esenyurt Municipality, and numerous neighborhood residents.

“We will meet with the public in all 43 of our neighborhoods”

Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer said, “We are in the Selahaddin Eyyubi Neighborhood. As Esenyurt Municipality, we have started our neighborhood meetings with the slogan that the municipality goes to the people. Now we are here in the Selahaddin Eyyubi Neighborhood with all of my assistant mayors, relevant directors, our public relations team, and our private secretaries. We will collect the problems, requests, suggestions, and criticisms of our people. We will also receive these issues both verbally and through written forms available on our tables. In the next process, we will forward each issue to the relevant directorate, and they will take the initiative to resolve those issues; I will also be a follow-up. When we come back later, we will all see what has been solved and what hasn’t, which directorate has handled which job, and why some jobs have not been done. This will also serve as a self-control mechanism and a public oversight, and thus we will manifest one of the most beautiful elements of democracy, participatory democracy, here. We have 43 neighborhoods and a population of one and a half million. We will meet with the public in all 43 of our neighborhoods and take their problems to make every effort to resolve them. I hope this will be an example, as you can see, we have come here; from now on, as the weather starts to cool down, we will hold these meetings indoors. Again, I welcome the people of Selahaddin Eyyubi.”
