Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin and Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak attended the opening in Trabzon. The opening of a sports high school, sports hall, student dormitory, and football field complex built by a philanthropic businessman in Akçaabat district of Trabzon was held, along with the Sebat Youth Sports Administrative Building and Sebat Youth Sports football field. In his speech at the opening, Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak stated that Trabzon and Akçaabat have gained a very valuable asset, saying, “These types of assets are very beneficial to us. I worked in Trabzon for 8 years. Trabzon is a sports city. Akçaabat Sebat is also very important for me. We were proud to see what the Erdemoğlu Family has done. I sincerely congratulate them for their services to the Turkish people. I celebrate Ibrahim Erdemoğlu’s loyalty to Trabzon. In these facilities, our young people will be raised to represent Turkish sports on the international stage and wave our flag. This asset suits Trabzon very well. I wish it to be beneficial for Trabzon.”

Minister Tekin: “Sporting and academic education together”
National Education Minister Yusuf Tekin also stated, “For many years in Turkey, sports education and academic education were seen as alternatives to each other. We advised our children to either receive academic education or sports education. We could not overlap them. Until 20 years ago, there was no institution called sports high school. Sports high schools could not specialize within themselves. We have started to make sports high schools thematic. As the Ministry of National Education, our job is to provide academic education. We do not know the technical infrastructure and equipment related to sports education. Let’s establish a volleyball school with project schools, the Volleyball Federation can prepare the curriculum and the educator staff, and we can provide the academic education. We have implemented such a model. We are currently doing this in 22 branches. This way, we can provide our children with both sports and academic education from a young age. This year, for the first time in Turkey, we have taken a step to start education and teaching related to sports and music at a younger age. We are starting to establish sports middle schools. Here, there will also be a sports middle school along with the high school. I wish our facility to be beneficial for Trabzon and our country.”

“Talented and ethical young people will be raised”
Trabzon Governor Aziz Yıldırım stated, “The sports high school showcases the value the Erdemoğlu Family places on education and our youth. We firmly believe that this high school will raise talented and ethical young people in terms of sports, not only for Trabzon but for our entire country. It encompasses not only physical activity but also many values such as discipline, teamwork, determination, and honesty. The young people who will receive education here will grow up with these values and represent our country in the best possible way in terms of sports.”

“A city that stands out in every aspect of sports”
Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç, in his speech, said, “Every city in our country has its own characteristics, beauties, and values. Trabzon is a city that is not only a historical, cultural, and artistic city but also a center of sports and education. In our city, the European Youth Games were held in 2007. The Olympics were held in 2011. Despite the coup attempt in 2016, interscholastic Olympics were held. It is a city that stands out not only in football but also in individual and indoor sports. May Allah bless those who have contributed to bringing this service to Trabzon.” Akçaabat Mayor Osman Nuri Ekim stated, “Our sports complex includes a sports high school, student dormitory, closed sports hall, the club building of Sebat Youth Sports, and two football fields. We are serving Akçaabat. We are bringing the necessary investments to our district with your contributions. In this context, we have reached many important investments. I hope this sports complex, which I believe will make significant contributions to the sports of Trabzon and our region, will bring goodness to our city and country.” After the speeches, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held, and the guests toured the sports complex. Later, a demonstration match was held. The opening was attended by Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin, Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak, Trabzon Governor Aziz Yıldırım, Gaziantep Governor Kemal Çeber, AK Party Deputy Chairman and Trabzon MP Mustafa Şen, Trabzon MP Sibel Suiçmez, former State Minister Faruk Özak, Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç, Akçaabat Mayor Osman Nuri Ekim, Ortahisar Mayor Ahmet Kaya, Trabzonspor Club President Ertuğrul Doğan, Trabzonspor Head Coach Şenol Güneş, representatives from political parties, as well as many citizens.
