The claim that Ekrem İmamoğlu insulted former Ordu Governor Seddar Yavuz caused tension during the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Council’s regular meeting in October. While this mayor was managing the council from the podium, he insulted our council member friend.”
The October Ordinary Meeting of the IMM Council was held at the municipality building in Saraçhane, chaired by the 2nd Deputy Chairman Gökhan Gümüşdağ. In the discussions before the meeting, the allegation that Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu insulted former Ordu Governor Seddar Yavuz caused tension. AK Party Council Member Lawyer Faruk Gökkuş took the floor regarding the insult made by Mayor İmamoğlu to Governor Yavuz during his election campaign in Ordu, where he said ‘don’t act like a dog.’
“He told the governor ‘don’t act like a dog'”
AK Party Council Member Lawyer Faruk Gökkuş said, “We lawyers play with words. However, there is such a provision in Article 125. This elected mayor made an election trip to Ordu. He raised a fuss because the VIPs next to him didn’t pass. He told the governor ‘don’t act like a dog.’ It’s in the voice recordings. Then he denied saying that. He said he said ‘you acted simply.’ This mayor insulted our council member friend while managing the council from the podium. He apologized. There is an ongoing legal process. I agree with all the statements regarding the judiciary. I also congratulate the CHP for coming to this understanding. It seems that this is the CHP that is transforming and changing.”
