President Tutdere’s Reaction to AFAD

Adiyaman Mayor Abdurrahman Tutdere reacted to the situation by stating that AFAD did not include Adiyaman in the list of provinces affected by the 5.9 magnitude earthquake that occurred in Malatya.

Adiyaman Mayor Abdurrahman Tutdere made statements regarding the 5.9 magnitude earthquake that occurred today in the Kale district of Malatya through his social media account. Mayor Tutdere said that AFAD ignored Adiyaman by adding it to the list later on February 6, and continued the same attitude in the Malatya earthquake.

Mayor Tutdere stated, “According to the official statement made by AFAD, it was reported that the earthquake that occurred in the Kale district of Malatya was felt in the provinces of Malatya, Diyarbakır, Şanlıurfa, Elazığ, Batman, and Tunceli. After the earthquake, field scanning activities were started by AFAD teams, as well as teams from the General Directorate of Security and gendarmerie. However, the name of Adiyaman, where the earthquake was felt intensely, was not mentioned in the AFAD statement. However, the earthquake was also felt intensely in Adiyaman. Since 10:46, when the earthquake occurred, citizens flooded into the streets, and a woman was treated by health teams in front of the governorship due to fear. While no negative situation has been reported in the city, it was announced by the governorship that education in schools would be suspended for one day. We cannot understand why our city, which suffered heavy damage after the February 6 earthquakes, where 72 thousand people are still living in containers, was not included in AFAD’s statement. AFAD, which ignored our Adiyaman on February 6 and added it to the list late, is continuing the same attitude regarding the earthquake that occurred today in Malatya Kale.
