Opening Ceremony and Honorary Doctorate Awarding Ceremony for the Academic Year 2024-2025 at AİÇÜ

The Opening Ceremony of the 2024-2025 Academic Year and the Honorary Doctorate Award Ceremony was held at Ağrı İbrahim Çeçen University (AİÇÜ).

During the ceremony, Honorary Doctorate titles were awarded to businessman Abdolbari Goozal, who funded the Doğubayazıt Ahmed-i Hani Campus, and businessman Celal Oruç, who funded the Eleşkirt Campus.

The Academic Year Opening and Honorary Doctorate Award Ceremony took place in the Ottoman Hall of the AİÇÜ Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Cultural and Congress Center, attended by Ağrı Governor Mustafa Koç, Ağrı Chief Public Prosecutor Adem Çalış, President of the Ağrı Administrative Court Erkan Seydibey, AİÇÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Abdulhalik Karabulut, businessmen Abdolbari Goozal and Celal Oruç, provincial protocol, academics, administrative staff, students, and their families. The program began with a moment of silence and the National Anthem, followed by the reading of a message from IC Management Board Chairman İbrahim Çeçen.

In his speech at the 2024-2025 Academic Year Opening and Honorary Doctorate Award Ceremony, Ağrı Governor Mustafa Koç stated, “Since its establishment, Ağrı İbrahim Çeçen University has been one of our significant values, continuing to grow in culture, tourism, and education with its quality education, qualified staff, and contributions to our province. I wish all of you, especially our esteemed students, a successful academic year, along with our Rector Prof. Dr. Abdulhalik Karabulut and all our academics. Dear youth, if you work diligently, opportunities will come to your doorstep. I advise you to fulfill your responsibilities admirably, regardless of your current position. With these feelings and thoughts, I wish the 2024-2025 Academic Year to be filled with successes for all our university members, especially our students.”

Rector Prof. Dr. Abdulhalik Karabulut, who spoke at the ceremony, expressed his hope that the new academic year would be a year full of success for AİÇÜ members and students. Prof. Dr. Karabulut stated that AİÇÜ prepares students with the capability to achieve Turkey’s goals of becoming a global power center by 2053 and 2071, under the motto of ‘The University Where Science Integrates with Love’.

Businessman Abdolbari Goozal, who was awarded an Honorary Doctorate title, expressed his happiness for receiving the doctorate title from AİÇÜ. Goozal stated that he would continue to support education and students as he has done so far.

Businessman Celal Oruç, who also received an Honorary Doctorate title, expressed his satisfaction in being with the students at AİÇÜ. Oruç said, “As a person from Ağrı, I take pride in the support we have given to education and in bringing our Eleşkirt campus to our university.”

The ceremony concluded with the donning of robes on the businessmen, the presentation of Honorary Doctorate Diplomas, and the presentation of AİÇÜ identities.
