Kuşadası Deputy Mayor Yusuf Atak made a statement regarding the social media posts of the personnel from the Cleaning Affairs Directorate who were injured in an accident during spraying on June 5.

Deputy Mayor Yusuf Atak emphasized that the statements blaming the Kuşadası Municipality made by Karşal do not reflect the truth. His statement is as follows:

“Our personnel, affiliated with the Cleaning Affairs Directorate, regularly enter all sites throughout our city as part of the fight against mosquitoes and pests, treating their pools, balance tanks, septic tanks, and manholes, as well as any stagnant water accumulation within the site. During spraying, every area that could harm public health is entered. The spraying conducted at the site of the work accident on June 5, 2024, was generally a routine procedure. In the mentioned incident, two qualified personnel conducted an on-site inspection and entered the area where there was an open, doorless water balance tank located at the lower side of the site’s pool. As our personnel started the machine, which is described as a fogging device, an explosion occurred for reasons yet to be determined, and subsequently, two of our personnel were injured due to the flames that ensued. After the incident, the two injured personnel were first taken to the emergency room of Kuşadası State Hospital and then transferred to Adnan Menderes University. From the very first moment, the initial interventions and subsequent treatment processes of our two personnel have been closely monitored by our Directorate upon the instruction of our Mayor. Both our Mayor Ömer Günel and our municipal officials related to the matter have provided all necessary support regarding the health status and other needs of both colleagues. The statements made by the personnel injured in the work accident blaming our municipality on social media do not reflect the truth. He does not have any legal rights to claim from our Municipality. All of his current financial claims, including unused leave payments, have been paid to him. Without a clear determination of fault, it is not legally possible for us to accept any treatment-related requests from our municipality. Should the fault circumstances become clear, our municipality will immediately fulfill its responsibilities. A legal investigation will also be initiated regarding the personnel’s current statements. Necessary steps will be taken according to the court’s decision.”
