Bitlis Governor Ahmet Karakaya visited the apple orchard established with grant support in the Ahlat district, chatting with farmers.

During his visit to the apple orchard, which was established with 50% grant support from the Eastern Anatolia Project (DAP) and the Eastern Anatolia Development Agency (DAKA), Governor Karakaya received information about the harvest from the orchard owner Sunullah Yıldırım.

The orchard, located in the Saka village of the district, spans an area of 30 decares and consists of 3,750 apple trees. While touring the orchard, Governor Karakaya picked apples and wished the farmers fruitful and prosperous earnings.

Speaking to reporters here, Governor Karakaya stated, “Serious steps have been taken regarding apple farming. We are very pleased to see this. Our efforts will continue to produce crops that are more suitable for the climate and soil of our region in a more efficient manner. Because it is production that strengthens a country. The more production there is, the more abundance there will be. Goods and products become cheaper. But if you do not produce, you rely on others. Agriculture and food are strategic areas. The more you can produce and market, the more input you can provide, and we will strive to ensure that these activities continue to increase for the welfare level of our people. May it be beneficial and fruitful for our farmers,” he said.

After continuing his tour and inspections for a while, Governor Karakaya left the district.

During his visit, Governor Karakaya was accompanied by Ahlat District Governor Batuhan Bingöl, Ahlat Deputy Mayor Ramazan Ergezen, Ahlat District Gendarmerie Commander Major Ömer Kartaler, General Secretary of Bitlis Special Administration Adem Aydoğdu, Bitlis Agriculture and Forestry Director Ramazan Çolak, Ahlat Agricultural Chamber President Necat Demirden, Ahlat District Agriculture and Forestry Director Nihat Keskin, and several heads of institutions.
