A city restaurant in Bandırma was opened with the participation of CHP Chairman Özgür Özel.

The first branch of the public restaurant launched by the Bandırma Municipality of Balıkesir was opened with the participation of the Chairman of the Republican People’s Party (CHP), Özgür Özel.

The social service model that offers affordable and hygienic meals, implemented by many CHP municipalities, especially in Istanbul, has now started to serve in Bandırma as well. The Public Restaurant, initiated under the leadership of Mayor Dursun Mirza and opened in the Saturday Market Closed Market Place, aims to provide healthy and tasty meals at economical prices. The project has been brought to life as an important example of the Bandırma Municipality’s understanding of social municipalism. In addition to CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, the opening ceremony was attended by Balıkesir Metropolitan Mayor Ahmet Akın, CHP Balıkesir MPs Ensar Aytekin and Serkan Sarı, CHP Provincial Chairman Erden Köybaşı, and party members.

In his speech at the opening, Bandırma Mayor Dursun Mirza stated, “Our public restaurant will provide the people of Bandırma with healthy and balanced nutrition with daily meal menus prepared in hygienic conditions. With this social service project, we aim to support especially low-income families and those in need.”

Özel: “The suspended meal application will begin”

In his speech at the opening, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel stated that the ‘suspended meal’ application would start in municipal restaurants across the country. Özel said, “Those who have money in their pockets can eat here, and those who want to help the poor while paying their bill can leave a meal on the hook. With the suspended meal application, citizens in difficult situations will be able to eat for free.”

Özgür Özel emphasized that the city restaurant is the 49th city restaurant opened across Turkey, stating, “With this social democratic municipal understanding, the signs will change to ‘City Restaurant’ in the coming days. We are happy about this important opening in Bandırma.”

After the ceremony, CHP Chairman Özel served three types of meals to citizens at the Public Restaurant he opened. Later, the delegation, which visited Bandırma, visited the newly arranged area of Sevgi Yolu. At the end of the day, Özel addressed the public at the event held in Republic Square to commemorate the 102nd anniversary of Bandırma’s liberation from enemy occupation.

Expressing his pleasure in visiting the district, Özel said, “The fact that the Metropolitan Municipality and the municipalities in Balıkesir, which correspond to 94% of the total population, have been won by the Republican People’s Party is certainly due to the determination of the right candidates, the work of our district organizations, and the success of the campaign, but if there is a success, the largest share in it belongs to you, who support the Republican People’s Party and the Turkey alliance it is in.”
