The caisson well pumping stations constructed by the General Directorate of Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Water and Sewerage Administration (SASKİ) in Terme and Bafra have been put into operation to provide a solution to the floods and water inundations that occurred after heavy rainfall.

Continuing uninterruptedly with drinking water, sewage, and rainwater infrastructure projects, as well as the construction of reservoirs and stream rehabilitation in Samsun, the central city of the Black Sea, SASKİ has built caisson well pumping stations to address the floods and water inundations caused by heavy rain. SASKİ has put into operation the first of these caisson wells, which will quickly collect rainwater accumulated in streets, avenues, and alleys, in the Gülsan Industrial Site of the Canik district, discharging surface waters into the Mert River.

After completing the construction of rainwater caisson well pumping stations in the Çay neighborhood of Terme and the Kemal Paşa neighborhood of Bafra, where heavy rains have caused flooding and water inundations in low-lying residential areas, SASKİ will discharge the rainwater collected in wells that are 10 meters in diameter and 10 meters deep into the Terme Creek and Baduk Canal through pumps and pumping lines.

With the caisson well pumping stations built and put into operation by the General Directorate of Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Water and Sewerage Administration in Terme and Bafra, it is planned to significantly prevent floods and water inundations that occur after heavy rainfall.
