The Düzce Science Center, which was brought to the city by Düzce Mayor Dr. Faruk Özlü and is among Turkey’s large-scale science centers, hosted science center managers from all over Turkey.

Düzce Municipality hosted the 8th Coordination Meeting of TÜBİTAK Large Scale Science Centers Managers. Science center managers from 14 different cities in Turkey came together in Düzce and visited the Düzce Science Center. Accompanied by Center Director Serkan Yılmaz, the managers examined the Robotics and Coding, Space and Aviation, Basic Sciences, Design and Production, Mathematics, and Discovery workshops, and also toured the concept exhibition area, which features 52 different setups.

The managers expressed their views on the Düzce Science Center, stating, “The Düzce Science Center is really well designed. It is very colorful and fun. It has become a very important value for Düzce and Turkey. Your exhibitions, the Children’s University are very nice, and the workshop laboratory areas are excellent. We anticipate that visitors will have great experiences. We are always here to provide any support we can. It is truly a successful project for Düzce. A free space where children can have fun. An amazing place that all students can visit. Thank you very much for your hospitality.”

They met with Mayor Faruk Özlü

Furkan Tomak, the Operations Officer of Bursa Gökmen Space and Aviation Training Center, who is also from Düzce, stated, “As a Düzceli, I think it is a great opportunity for Düzce. It has become an area where everyone from 7 to 70 can visit, with interactive experiment setups and workshop activities that are both educational and enjoyable. So, appreciate its value. This is the chance; I say to all my fellow Düzcelis to come and visit as soon as possible.”

The delegation, consisting of approximately 25 people, was hosted at the Culinary Arts Center after their visit to the Düzce Science Center. Düzce Mayor Dr. Faruk Özlü also attended the dinner invitation featuring local delicacies and met with the science center managers.

They came from 14 different cities

The 8th Coordination Meeting of TÜBİTAK Large Scale Science Centers Managers was held under the chairmanship of Cengiz Helvacı, Deputy Chair of TÜBİTAK Science and Society Presidency, with the participation of representatives from Düzce, Konya, Kocaeli, Kayseri, Elazığ, Antalya Kepez, Gaziantep Müzyyen Erkul, Trabzon Özdemir Bayraktar, Ankara Alev Alatlı, Aksaray, Denizli, Samsun, Istanbul Esenler, Yozgat Çekerek Science Centers, and Bursa Gökmen Space and Aviation Training Center.

In a statement before the meeting, Cengiz Helvacı said, “We hold meetings every two months with all the science centers we support in Turkey. In these meetings, we evaluate the requests of our science centers. We always discuss how to advance the effectiveness and efficiency of science centers in Turkey. They are in the field, in direct communication with citizens and children. We evaluate the feedback received from them together.”
