CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, in his speech addressing citizens in Manyas, the second stop of his Balıkesir visit, stated that Turkey would enter the European Union under a CHP government.

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel visited the district organization and the mayor’s office in Manyas. In his assessment at the Manyas Municipality, he emphasized their desire to provide good services to the district and expressed that they aimed to win the government with the efforts of CHP municipalities in the general elections. After the municipal visit, Özgür Özel stated in his speech to the citizens that Turkey would enter the European Union under a CHP government.

“We will provide unforgettable services to Manyas”

Meeting with Manyas Mayor Ahmet Duru and the municipal council members, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel stated that the services provided and to be provided by CHP municipalities would positively contribute to winning the government. Özel said, “Now, at a point where the distinction between the party and the state has been eliminated, it is important for these public officials to be known by their parties for the work they do, as they have been allowed to maintain their ties with their parties. Just as the AK Party paid the price for poorly managing a multitude of municipalities, we also desire to see the results of good governance as our party. Our goal is to receive the votes of three out of four in local elections and two out of three in general elections, and I am entrusting this goal to both our district chairman and our mayor as I leave Manyas today. From now on, our criterion regarding former mayors will be this: we will look at citizen satisfaction. If the citizens are satisfied, I would say continue. This is a non-negotiable criterion. Of course, it will continue. But an important point is that we want to see our general elections with a higher margin than they were elected with; we highly value the affection shown to them as members of our party and as mayors. I wish success to the mayor and the municipal council group. I also extend my respects to the municipal council members elected from other parties through the mayor. They have also had the opportunity to fulfill their duty of opposition in Manyas during this term. Let there be no doubt that we will unite on the right issues, that they will point out our shortcomings, and that we will listen to them as well. An understanding that sees the relationship between government and opposition as merely a fight is primitive. The relationship between government and opposition requires uniting on correct issues, level-headed negotiations in areas of differing opinions, and debates when necessary without resorting to rudeness. Democracy requires this. But especially, I hope that my mayor will respect the dignity of the municipal council members elected from other parties just as he does with our friends in our group and will listen to their rights and suggestions with great attention. I believe you will be successful. We expect you to do unforgettable things in Manyas; there have been very successful mayors in the past. We trust that you will inscribe yourselves among them in golden letters. I wish you success.”

“We are entering the European Union, we are making the nation smile”

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel also addressed the crowd that gathered in front of Manyas Municipality to see him. Özel said that Turkey would enter the European Union under the CHP government and included the following in his speech:

“Bring those who come to the party, visit those who don’t at their homes or fields, sit next to them at the café, watch them play dominoes, but claim it, and let’s quickly continue the escape from this government. If it goes like this, they cannot escape from an early election in November next year, a little over a year from now. When that election day comes, once again, 100 years later, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s party will be the ruling party, it will make this nation smile again, Turkey will rise again, and it will become the nightmare of developed countries. It will catch up with them, surpass them, enter the European Union, and its currency will gain value. Unlike Mr. Tayyip, we will drop one zero from all expenses, not just from both revenues and expenses. Mr. Tayyip dropped zeros from here and there, the same account, nothing changed. We will not drop zeros from salaries, we will drop a zero from prices. Think that with today’s salary, diesel is 4 lira. Think that with today’s salary, minced meat is 55 lira, and chops are 70 lira. Look at all prices with today’s salary and drop a zero. That is the purchasing power of the European Union. In the European Union, retirees have 12 times more purchasing power than we do. We will reach that point in 10 years of CHP governance. The first 5 years will be half, the second 5 years will be the other half. From now on, when you go to the market, when you go to the bazaar, when you go to the shop, when you go to the grocery store, look at the label. Say, drop a zero, it will be like this when CHP comes. If I don’t see it, my son will see it in 10 years, my grandson will see even better in 20 years. Tell the AK Party and MHP supporters to drop a zero, and say it will be like this when CHP comes. How much is tea in Manyas? 7.5 lira. You say when CHP comes, tea will be 75 kuruş. When CHP comes, tea will be 75 kuruş, diesel will be 4 lira, even minced meat will be 55 lira. That means there will be 10 times more purchasing power. How will this happen? Thanks to the European Union. Those who enter there achieve that goal. They left it, turned in another direction. Our direction is the one shown by Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. It’s very simple; we are turning that way, we are saluting the Pasha in Thessaloniki, we are entering the European Union, we are making this nation smile.
