Bodrum Municipality conducted a comprehensive cleaning activity with Erasmus students at Bitez beach.

On Friday, September 13, a comprehensive cleaning event was organized in Bitez in collaboration with Bodrum Municipality and the District National Education Directorate. During the event, Erasmus students from various countries visiting Bodrum carried out beach cleaning, while volunteer diving teams affiliated with Bodrum Municipality cleaned the seabed.

The event was attended by the Deputy Mayor Tanju Aksu, representing Bodrum Mayor Tamer Mandalinci, District National Education Director Aslan Korkmaz, municipal department directors, the Youth Centers team from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, teachers and students from schools affiliated with the Bodrum District National Education Directorate, and Erasmus program participants.

During the cleaning efforts, 120 kilograms of waste were collected from the sea, while 55 kilograms were gathered from the shore. The waste was displayed in front of Bitez Üç Fidan Park, and a portion of the collected waste was placed in the Waste Material Storage Sculpture established in Bitez Üç Fidan Park to raise awareness. The remaining waste was taken to the Bodrum Municipality Class 1 Waste Center for recycling.

Expressing that a beautiful work was done to raise awareness and thanking the Erasmus students for their support, Deputy Mayor Tanju Aksu stated, “We thank all of them for coming and supporting us. As we always say, we wish these images did not exist. But unfortunately, they do. We continue to clean and warn people not to throw garbage.”

District National Education Director Aslan Korkmaz said the following regarding the event: “As Bodrum District National Education Directorate, we conducted environmental and beach cleaning with our two institutions from various European countries, including Spain, Italy, France, and Trabzon, as part of our Erasmus Project. Our main topic is sustainable environment. We thank Bodrum Municipality for their support in these activities. It was a very beautiful and productive effort.”

The Director of Cleaning Affairs, Serdar Kaya, stated regarding the activity, “Our aim is awareness. We want to increase the awareness of everyone coming to Bodrum, regardless of age or nationality.”

The program concluded with a group photo and the distribution of gifts prepared by the Bodrum Municipality Cleaning Affairs Directorate.
